Sword Fighting Show Down

"But why would that person have a picture of you and your mother? I mean, I'm guessing that's you...." I pointed to the boy in the picture.

"Y-yeah..." I said, touching the picture gently with my finger. It seemed like decades ago, but it had only been about ten years. "I-I don't know how it got there......I've n-never even s-seen this pi-picture."

"Really? That's....strange," I said, moving to sit down next to Jonathan. "So how do you think it got there? I mean, if you've never seen it, then you didn't put it there. But who would've....?" I was mostly talking to myself. But why did I even care? Was I trying to keep Jonathan safe? I mean, I just met this boy today, and I'm already worrying about safety? No, I don't think that was it. But what, then...?

I turned to her, my face a little nervous.

"Lynn? I need to tell you something....how I really got here in the forest...you'll probably think I'm crazy." I said.

Jonathan turned to me. He looked nervous. I looked down at my necklace and picked it up gently in my fingers. I traced the curled-up dragon with my index finger before answering.
"I think I'm already going crazy....So go ahead...." I sighed, moving my fingers slowly across the necklace pendant, not looking up. I waited for him to continue....

"Well......I really have no idea how I got here. One morning, I went to sleep at the t-...I mean, where I usually sleep, the next, I'm here in the middle of the forest. There was this pack," I said, gesturing to the backpack-thing in my hands. "and some other stuff. Also, there was this scroll...." I said, grabbing for a scroll in the bag. I handed it to her to read.

I listened carefully as he explained. Then he handed me the scroll. I read over it quickly. "So, you were asigned to kill that girl?!" I asked, a little shocked.

"Well, whoever wrote that scroll wanted me to. I wasn't going to, though!" I said. "I wouldn't kill someone I barely knew. But I figured whoever wrote that had to have a good reason for wanting me to attack her, so I figured I could battle her. I didn't know what I'd do afterwards, though....." I said, a little embarassed I hadn't thought it through.

"Oh, I see...." I replied, looking back at the scroll. "And you have no idea who wrote this? Or how you got here, for that matter?" I asked him, looking over at the girl. She was still asleep. Or passed out. Or whatever happened to her....

"Nope." I stated simply. "I don't even have any idea where I am."

I tried to stop myself from laughing, but a few giggles escaped.
"And you think that I'm going to think you're crazy for that reason?" I laughed a little, quietly.

"Well, it just sounds weird. I mean, one morning I wake up in a forest having no idea where I am? Maybe it's just me...."

"No, that does sound weird...." I replied, looking off into the forest. "But it doesn't make you sound like a lunatic," I continued. Then I stopped and turned around. Had I heard someone behind us again? Or was I just truely going crazy? I was hoping it was the first one....
But when I turned around, there was nothing there. So I just turned back around and stared into the fire, acting like nothing had happened....

"heh, I guess that's a good thing." I looked over at the girl, lying there. She had been passed out for a while, I wondered if she was alright.

Abruptley (sp?), I stood up. I could hear something in the forest. And whether it was an animal or a person, I was going to find it. The continuess (sp?) noise of footsteps behind me was getting very, very annoying. So, without saying a word, I headed off into the woods again.

When I looked next to where Lynn had been sitting, I was surprised to find no one there. I looked around and saw her heading into the woods. I coked my head to the side, wondering what she was doing.

I grabbed my sword and put it in the dirt, using it like a cane to help me stand up. I started to walk after her, the sword making an adequate crutch.

As I looked behind me, I noticed Jonathan walking towards me, using his sword for support.
"Can I help you?" I asked, turning back around. I continued walking, even before he answered.

"Just wondering what you're doing." I said, walking a little faster so I was closer to her.

"Right," I said, not turning around. "I'm going to find that person we saw earlier. I keep hearing footsteps, and it's getting a little annoying," Then I stopped and turned around.

"Yeah, it wa-" I stopped when she turned around. "What? What is it?"

I raced past Jonathan, my black hair flying behind me. As I was running, I unsheathed my two swords. The coal-black metal glinted in the sunlight.

About 5 seconds later, I had the cloaked figure that was behind Jonathan pinned to a tree. I had one sword pinning their cloak to the tree, my other sword just inches from their throat.

I had turned around and watched as Lynn pinned the person to the tree. I limped over.

"Who are you?!" I rasped, my voice filled with anger. The cloaked figure that I had pinned to a tree had a hood over their head, so I couldn't see their face. But I saw what they had tried doing to Jonathan. They had a long sword, ready to stab him. I turned around just in time. Now the figures sword was lying on the ground, next to my feet.

I limped up next to Lynn and spoke.

"Who are you, and why did you try to kill me?!" I yelled. Like most people, I don't take very kindly to people trying to kill me.

The bright light of day forced my eyelids open slowly, and I pulled myself up reluctantly. So I wasn't dead. I yawned groggily, and slowly scanned my surroundings, seeing an endless amount of trees, grass, roots and a campfire in front of me. Well, what used to be a campfire anyway: there were still red hot embers dancing on the pile of burned out wood, but that campfire was probably made hours ago. I looked around again, but I didn't see the boy that I had fought, or any trace of him. I had no clue how I got there, but I was feeling fine again and forced myself shakily onto my feet.

As I strolled across the forest, I put my hand onto my sheath for extra precaution. Many of my father's soldiers were out to get me, and I didn't want to be caught unawares.
