Sword Fighting Show Down

I had taken out a book and started reading it. I looked up when I heard Lynn turn, then looked where she was looking. Noth-wait. I jumped up, taking out my sword. In the distance, I could see a dark, hooded figure standing there.

When I turned to look over at Jonathan, I saw that he was now standing, his sword at hand. So I turned back around, and looked back at where I was looking before. That's when I noticed the dark hooded figure in the distance....

(I have to go)

I looked at Lynn.

"Let's go see who it is."

(Okay! Talk to you later!)

I glanced over at Jonathan.

"Alright...." I started off into the forest before he could say anything else. I moved slowly and cautiously towards the figure.

(I'm back! Sorry my last post was so short, but my mom was right there, and I was trying to hurry.)


I followed Lynn slowly, keeping my sword at my side. The figure didn't move, so they must've not seen us. They had their back turned to us.


(Any idea who this person should be? )

(Hmmm....No idea! )

As we approached the figure, it didn't move. So I'm guessing it didn't see us. I walked closer and closer, slowly and cautious. But the figure finally caught a glimpse of us and took off in the oppisite direction.

The second the figure took off, I raced after them. They were pretty fast, but I was faster. I almost caught them, too, when I accidentally tripped over a tree root, sending me flat onto my face.

I stopped when the figure took off. I was about to turn around to ask Jonathan what we were going to do now. But he raced past me, his figure a blur.
I started to take off as well when I noticed Jonathan trip over a tree root and landed on his face. I started running, and stopped when I reached him.

"Are you okay?!"

I sat up, my head throbbing. I had grass in my hair, and dirt on my face.

"Yeah, I'm fi-ow!" I yelled as I stood up. I leaned against a tree, my ankle throbbing. "I think I must've twisted my ankle or something. Stupid root....."

"Well, can you walk?" I asked. My face was probably betraying the emotion of worry.

Before Jonathan answered, I looked in the forest to see if I could still see the figure. But they had vanished. Great, now what?

"Yeah, I'm sure I can..." I said, and tried to walk. The second I started walking, the pain from my ankle sent a jolt through my leg. "Ow! Uhh...a little help?" I asked, WAY embarassed I was having to ask her to help me walk.

Jonathan tried walking, but as soon as he put his foot on the ground, he stumbled forward and nearly fell on his face again. Then he asked me for help. He looked embarassed, too.
"Okay, okay!" I said, walking over to him again.

"Th-thanks." I said, blushing a little as I put my arm around her neck, and she helped me start to walk back towards the campsite.

As he put his arm around my neck, I started walking slowly back towards the campsite. "You're welcome...." I replied. After that, I was silent....

We soon got back to the campsite, where I told her I was good now. I stumbled over to where I had been sitting before. I sat down and grabbed my bag, rummaging through it.

I watched as he stumbled back to where he was sitting before. Then he started looking through his bag.

"If you don't mind me asking," I started, "what are you looking for?"

I looked up, my face a little nervous. I was hoping there'd be something to put on my ankle in there, but there wasn't anything.

"Uh, just something to put on my leg." I replied. I looked back down into the bag, and to my surprise, there was a picture. It was of....my mom?! I whispered to myself as I grabbed the picture.

"What the....."

"Oh, alright," I replied. He continued looking through his bag as I just stood there. Then I heard him whisper, and he looked a little confused.
"What? What's wrong?"

I was still whispering, talking to myself.

"W-why would this be in here....who did this...."

It was a picture of my mom and me, probably when I was five or something, sitting on the grass in the park. I hadn't looked at a picture of her in a long time, I had almost forgotten what she looked like.

He was still looking at the picture, confusion obvious on his face.
Since he didn't give me a straight answer, I walked over to him and stood behind him. I looked at the picture he was holding. And I took a lucky guess.

"Is that your mother....?" I asked quietly.

I jumped a little at Lynn all of a sudden behind me, but I kept my eyes on the picture. I spoke quietly.

"Y-yes." I said, my voice small.

"I...I'm sorry....About what happened, I mean...." I said, then once again remember about what he said about sympathy earlier. I shut my mouth, and said "Sorry" in a hushed tone.

"I-I don't know how th-this g-got th-there...." I said, stuttering like an idiot.

I listened to him closely. Because of his stuttering, it was kind of hard to tell what he was saying.
"You mean you didn't put it in your bag?" I asked, a little surprised.

Oooh, just messed up big time. I had to come up with something. Fast.

"Uh....n-no. M-maybe......maybe th-that person d-did." I lied.
