Sword Fighting Show Down

"A-a little. Th-thanks." I said, smiling.

I just nodded my head and smiled a little.
"I'm just returning the favor...." I said, gesturing to my stomach. Then I smiled again, looking down.

Earlier, I decided to rip a little off the bottom of my long shirt, and wrapped it around my gash. The pain was actually subsiding a little.

(Hmm....do you think we should stop for now so that El can add something? I mean, I don't think Elandr would just sit there and do nothing.)

(Hmm....I guess that'd be a good idea...But I hope Elandri gets here soon; I don't know how long I can go without posting here! '^^)

(Hopefully she'll come on tonight.)

Yes, Jonathan had ended the short-lived fight, but the battle between him and pain was on-going. "Shush," I hissed brutally, glaring at him. "My mother was a healer, I can help." I stood up slowly and paced around before pushing my dress skirts back and sitting down on the grass next to the injured patient. "That is, if you will accept help."

I looked at her gratefully.

"O-of course I w-will!" I said, my voice hoarse. I'd felt much worse pain than this, but that didn't make it much better.

I sat back quietly, leaning against the closest tree I could find. I tried to relax, thinking things over. And I closed my eyes, sighing gently. At least for this one moment, everything was calm....

Wordlessly, I reached for my pack and pulled out some medical equipment. Gauze, bandages, and more. In a few minutes flat, I hate the wound dressed so that it wouldn't be opened to infections. I stared critically at my work, before speaking. "That shall suffice, for now."

It didn't really hurt anymore, but there was still a little pain somewhere. I smiled.

"Thanks." I stated simply.

Once I opened my eyes again, I saw that the girl had already finished helping Jonathan with the wound on his shoulder. I closed my eyes again, a million things running through my head.

I sighed and crawled over next to Lynn on my hands and knees. I sat down next to her, leaning against another tree. Her eyes were closed, but I could tell she was awake. I spoke.

"So, what do we do now?" I asked, leaning my head back and looking up at the sky, the branches and leaves high above obscuring some of my view.

Jonathan, and the girl, Lynn, seemed to know each other somewhat, and trusted eachother. I butted out of their little conversation, pulling myself up from the grass and wandering elsewhere. I bit my lower lip apprehensively, hoping there wouldn't be any attacks: ever since the cloaked figure I'd been wary.

Jonathan's voice, suddenly beside me, had startled me. I quickly opened my eyes, looking towards him. Then I sighed.
"You tell me," I answered, not sure what else to say. Then I saw the other girl walk away. I swiftly pointed to her, then turned to Jonathan. "Her....What's her name?" I inquired, putting my hand down. "I don't think you've told me yet, have you?"

I squeezed my eyes shut. Oh, the horror of wearing a dress. I prayed that there would be a market nearby, for me to buy some leggings and a decent shirt, but that was rather unlikely since the nearest village was leagues and leagues away. I yawned, and smiled bitterly. I wondered how I had gotten myself into this mess, with Jonathan, Father and Lynn. I turned back after walking some, trying to get my thoughts back in order.

"Her name's Elandri," I said, staring over at her. I looked back at Lynn. "Is it just me, or is she acting kind of weird?"

"Well, considering that I don't know how she usually behaves, I'm not sure....But it looks like something's bothering her."

"Yeah..." I said, staring back over at her.

I yawned again, only then realizing how tired I actually was. I lay down, leaning my back againast a tree, and drifted off into a fitful nap.

We both watched her as she leaned against a tree and soon fell asleep. That's when I noticed that it had gotten dark.

When I woke, I knew it was late. The smells of the night were here, the chirping of crickets, and there was a luminous, ghostly light cast on the trees from the beautiful full moon. It certainly was a beautiful night. Nearby, I smelled a fire, and guessed Jonathan and Lynn had struck up a fire while I was sleeping. Red tinted my cheeks at the thought of them watching me sleep...

I wandered back to the campsite and sat down, pulling my dress-skirts back, groaning all the while.

Lynn had fallen asleep on my shoulder after a little while. I watched as Elandri wandered back into the campsite, and for some reason, I kinda blushed. Luckily, it was hard to tell with the shadows of the night.

I preferred darkness to light. Darkness had become my home; my refuge, after I had been condemned to a life of conflict and hate. I had been taught that fighting would solve everything, and brute force could keep foreigners seeking trouble outside the lands. I hated my father for it. "Having funb there?" I mused, turning to face Jonathan.

I looked down, trying to hide my face.

"Ha ha," I said. I grabbed my pack and slowly moved out from under Lynn, placing her on the ground with my pack as her pillow. I wandered over to Elandri and sat across from her.

"Sleep well?" I asked.
