Chance Meeting-An Avatar Story

~Katara~

As I ran up the stairs to see what was happening, I saw Star, standing over this guard. She was obviously angry.

"What are you doing?!" I asked, surprised. Then, after Star told us to back off, Summer said "She's right. Let her do what she wants."

"Are you CRAZY?!" I asked, shocked. Wasn't somebody going to stop her? "She could kill that guard!" I stood, frozen in my place, and watched Star look back over to where we were standing, an almost-furious-looking...look on her face. She had deffinatly, at that moment, probably lost any sanity that was left in her. She was overthrown by anger, and probably revenge....

~Star~

I looked over at the group, and noticed that Toph was back. Imagine that....I looked at the group for a few seconds, and then turned back to the guard, who was still on the ground.

"Get up." I demanded. He looked confused, but scrambled to his feet.

"What did you do to my father?" I asked, being as calm as I could. It wasn't very calm at all.

"H-how should I r-remember?! Th-that was a y-year ago!" I took a deep breath, and closed my eyes again. I tried my hardest to calm down, but it wasn't really working. When I opened my eyes, I was just as angry as before. I franticly looked around the room, trying to find a weapon of some sort. Anything would do ().

Honestly, in some part deep, deep down inside me, I was hoping that someone would come out and stop me. But it didn't look like anybody would....And, if they did, I'd probably do something to make them stop abruptly. What was wrong with me...?

~Summer~

I turned my head towards Katara after she said that Star could kill that guard, and spoke.

"And...? What's wrong with that? He's Fire Nation. And, it seems like he did something to seriously make her mad. So why should she not get some revenge?" I asked. ()

~Katara~ (Ooh, pretty colors! )

"What do you mean, what's wrong with killing him?!" I asked, again, a little surprised. But I figured I could expect that from Summer.

"And what exactly do you think that guard did to make her so mad?" I asked her, restraining myself from going over there and stopping Star myself. I'd let her get her anger out, and, if she got to the point of seriously hurting him, I would stop her. If that was even possible....

"He killer her father." Star's mother said from behind me.

~Star~ (More pretty colors! )

I looked at the guard, then over at the group again. I was confused, not sure what to do. I could hear the group, Summer and Katara mostly, talking. But I couldn't understand what they were saying; it was all mumbles. Then I saw Sokka look around, a little confused himself. Slowly and cautiously, like I was dangerous, he started walking towards me. I just watched him walk slowly towards me, but I kept my hand around the guards shirt colar. I was slightly confused.

(Hmm...Wonder what Sokka's gonna do! )

~Summer~

I notice Sokka start to walk towards Star and I sighed.

"What is he doing?" I mumbled.

~Katara~

I watched Sokka slowly walk out towards Star. She wasn't too far away, but she wasn't exactly close, either. Summer asked what he was doing.

"...I have no idea." I said, watching Sokka as he got closer to Star. Star just stood there, like she was frozen in place or something. "Let's just hope he can talk her out of whatever she's planning to do....."

~Star~

I just stood there, my hand nearly around the terrified guard's throat. And I watched as Sokka slowly approached me. It made me feel a little angry. Not angry exactly, but...I wasn't dangerous. He didn't have to act like I was. He should know that I would never hurt him....

Once he got up to me, he cautiously put his hand on my shoulder.

"Star...What're you doing?" he asked, looking over at the guard, and then back at me. That made me think...

"I...I don't know..." I said, looking over at the guard as well. "But this man...he killed my father! Why should my father have to die, but he gets to live?!" I asked, my question rhetorical. I took a deep breath, and Sokka sighed.

(Wonder if Sokka can talk her out of it....)

~Summer~

"Yeaaah, let's hope so." I said sarcastically, rolling my eyes.

(...Sorry I've been posting really short stuff! I have no idea what to put...^^')

(Hehe, I think I'm making up your really short stuff with my really long stuff. '^^)

~Katara~

I sighed. There really was no need for sarcasm. It was like Sokka all over again...sort of.

~Star~

I looked over at the guard once more, who looked just as confused as I felt.

"Hey Sokka...You don't happen to have some of your weapons with you still, do you?" I asked, trying to sound as sane as possible. Luckily, it was easy to trick Sokka.

"Sure. Why?" he asked.

"Can I..see one?" I asked, hoping he'd fall for it. Luckily, he did. He pulled out that sword-knife-looking thing that he always carried around. Once he held it out, I snatched it from his hands quickly. I stuck the knife-sword-looking thing only a few inches from the guard's face.

"I want some answers! WHY did you kill my father?!" I demanded, yelling again. "And don't tell me "it was because he was an Earthbender", because. HE. WASN'T!"

(Ooh....dun dun DUUUNNNN!!! xP)

(Sokka's so gullible. )

~Jonas~ (I was going to do Summer again, but I can't think of anything for her....And I thought it'd be interesting to do things from Jonas's point of view. ^^)

We had been standing there for about five minutes, watching this girl almost kill this guard. I wondered why no one was doing anything, but I wasn't about to stop her. Even if I am Fire Nation, that doesn't mean I like them in the least. If the girl wanted to get revenge, then who was I to interfere? If anyone should've, it should've been her mother, who was standing a feet away from me.

(Yeah, I know! )

~Syra~ (I figured it'd be fun to finally do something in Star's mother's point of view...Never done this before...wish me luck! )

I stood there, nearly petrified, as I watched Star attack and nearly kill one of the guards. Where were the rest of the guards? Well, I can't say I'm not glad that there weren't any more here, but still....

I watched the boy Star was with earlier cautiously walk up to her, trying to talk her out of this, I'm sure. Then I noticed that she took a weapon of some sort and threatened the guard with it. This time I could hear her yelling. She was asking the poor man why he killed her father. And she was too determined to make sure he suffered from the same fate, and she wasn't going to stop now. She was only inches from killing the guard now, and I had to stop her.

"Star!" I yelled, making her turn her attention from the guard to me.....

~Star~

I was only inches from killing the guard when I heard my mother call my name. I quickly turned my head, my eyes taking a second to focus on her, and the others. But that one second I turned my attention to my mother was enough. As if this was all practiced, the second I turned my head, Sokka had grabbed my arms, and held them behind my back, restraining me. It was like I was being arrested all over again. But it seemed to go in slow motion for me. The sword-knife-thing fell to the floor the same second the terrified guard sighed with relief. My mother tarted towards me the second I was "restrained".

"What are you doing?!" I asked Sokka, totally shocked.

"Making sure you don't hurt that innocent man." he replied.

"Innocent?! You think he's innocent?! He killed my father! He needs to die!" I ranted, surprising myself -well, the deep, deep down part of myself- as I said the words. This was totally out of my nature. But I was so blinded by fury, I didn't really care. I didn't care about anything right now. Just the death of the guard....

(Man, Star's getting...violent! O.o )

(Hrm.....)

~Summer~

My eyes widened as I watched Sokka restrain Star, stopping her from killing that guard. I was almost angry at him. That's when it hit me.

If I'm going to do this, I have to do it now, not wait for them to stop me just like they stopped her I thought to myself.

I backed away, not being noticed by anyone. Everyone was watching Star. I crept back up the stairs, looking behind me and making sure no one was following me. I had to do this, and no one was going to stop me.

(O_O DUN, DUN, DUUUUNNNNNNN! )

(Hmm....)

~Star~

I sighed, seeming to give up. The guard took off running, disappearing down some hall. The anger welled up inside of me, but I tried letting it all disolve.

"Are you alright?" Syra asked me. I shook my head, exhaling again.

The second Sokka let go of my arms, I was off again. As quickly as I ever thought I could possibly go, I swiftly, moved my leg, so I didn't have to bend down, but I was still lowering myself. I quickly grabbed Sokka's knife-sword-thing off the ground, stood back up completely, and took off running down the hall. This had all happened in about a second. I had probably left everyone confused...

(So maybe Star will get revenge! )

(Yay for Star getting her revenge! And let us see what Summer is up to...)

~Summer~

After I was a little ways away from everybody else, I broke out into a run up the stairs. I went to the fourth floor, figuring that Star had been on the third floor, and that if there had even been a guard there, she had probably already knocked him out.

I crept around the corner of the fourth floor doorway, and saw a large guard--No, really. He was HUGE.--on the other side of the hall. He didn't notice me until I came all the way our of the stairway, and that's when he took out a large knife from somewhere on his side. I narrowed my eyes, and ran towards him, taking out my swords. But before I could even swing at him, he made a swipe at my stomach once I got closer. He made a small gash in the middle of my stomach. I tried to ignore it, trying to stab at him with my swords. Quickly--He was pretty quick for such a big guy--, he grabbed my swords with his hands, the dull sides, and pulled them awy from me. Then, he kicked me in the stomach, throwing me against the wall.

Oh, great.

~Star~

I heard someone angrily yell my name, but I ignored it, and kept running.

A few seconds later, I finally saw the guard. He was running, and then sharply turned a corner once he saw me. I turned the corner, heading towards the hall. But, since I was using Airbending to speed up my running, I kind of slipped...and fell. Since I was holding the knife-thing in one hand, it scraped up against my arm. It left a fairly large cut, and I gasped from the pain. But I stood back up, looking at my arm, then picked up the knife again, and began running.

~Summer~

It took me a second to regain balance, and by the time I did, the guard was about to punch me in the face. I ducked just in time, a shot of pain going through me from my stomach. I grunted, falling onto the floor behind him. He hadn't turned around yet.

This could be my only chance. I thought, then used my swords to stab him through the legs from behind. (O_O) He yelled out in pain, and I quickly stood up, using all of my strength to push him against the wall. I could hear some pirsoners gasp, as they pressed their faces against the bars of the windows on their cells, trying to hear what was going on. I put my face up to his, keeping him restrained as best I could, and spoke.

"You're going to help me." I said simply.

(...That was fun to write! =P)

(Hehe, I'm sure it was. )

~Star~

I was only a few feet away from the guard now. I would follow him all over the prison; I didn't care how far I had to go, I would get my revenge.

I had been running, chasing the guard, for a few moments now. I slipped and slided in a few places, but quickly regained my balance each time.

Finally, I was only inches behind the guard. He ran into a room, which made me stop in my tracks. I looked around, and my eyes widened.

Standing there in front of me, there were about five guards, including the one I'd been chasing. They all looked from me, over to the one guard, and then back at me, confusion in their eyes. All of a sudden, I heard the one guard yell something.

"Get her!"

(Dun dun...DUUUN! O_O')

(Oooh....O_O)

~Summer~

The guard spoke, his voice showing the obvious pain he was in.

"I would never help a little witch like you." He said through clenched teeth. I pushed the swords in a little harder, and he let out another scream of pain. I spoke.

"Sure about that? Now tell me....where is the warden?"

It took him a moment to answer, and I started to pull one of the swords, slowly and painfully. He spoke.

"Fine.....Warden Fong(Is that the name I used earlier..? I can't remember...^^')is o-on the top fl-floor. E-end of the ha-hall." He said. Without a word, I yanked both of my swords out of him, letting him fall to the ground and scream in pain yet again. I walked away, some of the prisoners cheering, some of them begging for me to let them out. I ignored them and walked back to the staircase, and began to walk again.

(Hmm...No, I think you used something like "Wong" or whatever...'^^)

~Star~

My eyes widened as the guards, most of them Firebenders, started at me. I wasn't going to run. That deffinatly wasn't an option.

I was already slightly out of breath from all that running, and I had this big cut on my arm. Now this?!

I took an Airbending stance, and then, using both of my hands, I made a big wall of wind, pushing all the guards back. Of course, they were surprised that I was an Airbender. In the split second they were all down, I quickly grabbed the little orange silk ribbon from my pocket. I pulled my hair back, and tied the ribbon to hold it back. There, now that would make things easier....

(Heh heh...'^^ )

(Right! I'll go fix it. ^^')

~Summer~

I walked up the stairs, taking my time and making sure that there were no guards posted anywhere. I wasn't about to get caught now. I was so close, I just couldn't be stopped.

~Star~

As the guards got back up, I took another fighting stance.

"What're you doing in here, girl?!" One of the guards asked, still a little surprised.

"That is none of your business." I said, the anger slowly creeping back into my voice. One of the Firebenders took a stance as well, but I only saw him from my peripheral (sp? '^^) vision, out of the corner of my eye. I didn't really pay attention to him....

Until he sent a ball of fire hurling towards me....

(Yuh-oh..Star's in a bit of trouble, it seems..hrm...If you want to post another post, that'd be fine. I can't think of anything right this moment.)

(Hmm...since our earlier posts got deleted, I think I'm gonna change up Star's P.O.V part thingy...'^^ )

~Star~

The ball of fire coming towards me seemed to go in slow motion. I tried using Airbending to extinguish it, but it was going too fast. I got the ball of fire to shrink a little, but it was still coming towards me. My only other chance, since I couldn't use Airbending, because it was already to close to me, was instinct. I tried to defend myself by using my arms as a block. Yes, it was a stupid move. But it was instinct.

Because I tried to cover my face, which is where the fireball would've hit me, with my arm, obviously, the fire hit my arm.

I recoiled, and nearly screamed in pain. But I only let out a small gasp. I immediatly looked at my arm, which was now burning and stinging. I looked back at the guards, pain probably betraying my eyes....

~Summer~

Finally, I came to the top floor. It was a little different from all of the other floors. It only had foor cells on each side of the hall, and a door at the very end of it.

As I walked slowly towards the door, I realized that all of the cells were empty. I figured they were reserved for the worst of the worst.

Finally, after what seemed like forever, I came to the door. I reached my hand for the doorknob, turning it slowly.

(DUN, DUN, DUNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!)

~Star~

I tried ignoring the stinging pain in my arm as I got back into a fighting stance. There was a guard coming towards me, and he was only a few feet away now. All I could think to do was, again, instinct. Things were happening to fast. I didn't know what else to do. Things were confusing, swirling past me. I held the knife-thing out in front of me just seconds before the guard hit it. He fell backwards, but I'm sure he was just knocked out. I didn't think a sword-thingy all the way through the stomach would kill a man. Of course, if someone wasn't able to do something about it soon, he might die of blood loss in a few minutes....

I looked back up from the guard, now lying on the floor, and saw that all the guards were looking at him, too, disbelief barely visible in their eyes. Maybe this wouldn't be too hard after all....

~Summer~

I opened the door, and immidately looked around. Directly in front of me was a table, with papers scattered all over it. There was(were?)a few bookcases to my right, full of books. What disturbed me, though, is that I didn't see the warden anywhere. I took another step into the room, which was a huge mistake. The door slammed behind me, and I immediately felt something hard and sharp hit me in the back of my head. I fell forward onto the ground, and I could feel some blood oozing out of my head. I looked up dizzily, and saw him; The man who killed my parents.

(Uh-oh....)

(Wait a second...wouldn't it be scrolls, not books? ()...And "uh-oh!!!" xP)

~Star~

I looked over at the soldiers; there were four of them now. For a split second, I thought 'What am I doing?!'. Then I thought back to the raid on my village, and my father....and all my determination came running back.

It was a very strange feeling actually. I felt so much hate inside me, but, at the same time, regret. I felt so much pain, both physical and emotional, but I also felt a sense of numb wash through my body. I had no clue what I was supposed to do. So I did the first thing I could. I attacked....

(Hmm....O_O' ())
