Chance Meeting-An Avatar Story

~Summer~

"Well....uh.....see, th-the main reason I came here......I need to find someone." I said, rubbong the back of my neck.

~Katara~

"You, too?!" Sokka groaned. I smacked his arm, making him shut up.

"Who're you looking for?" I asked, trying to be polite.

"Hopefully not her parents," Sokka muttered under his breath. I hit him again.

"Ow! Will you please stop that!" he complained.

~Star~

A few moments later, I stood up, and started walking down another hall.

"Wher're you going?" Toph asked, also standing up.

"...I'm not sure," I said, and continued to walk forward.

~Summer~

I glared at Sokka, and spoke.

"My parents are dead, Sokka. And that brings me to who I'm trying to find. The General who killed my parents....I found out that he semi-retired and is now here, in this prison. I think he's the Warden."

~Katara~

"Ohh." Sokka said. "So...you're getting revenge?"

~Star~

I was just walking straight ahead, not sure if anyone was following or not. But finally, I found what I was apperantly looking for. When I had started walking, I didn't really have my mind set on finding something. But, when I saw the guard standing there, I knew that was why I started walking in the first place. I turned behind me, to see if anyone was following. Toph was sitting, only about ten feet away. Good, then this should work out....

(Dun dun...DUUUN! xP)

(O_o What's Star gonna do?!)

~Summer~

"Yes." I said simply. "Anyway, I'm going to go find him. Just figured I'd...tell you where I'm going." I said.

(Hmm....What's Summer gonna do? xP)

~Star~

I walked up to the guard, who didn't really pay much attention to me. I guess, in my Fire Nation clothes, I looked like any random citizen that would accidently wander into a prison. He looked me over, and then looked around.

"Can I help you, miss?" he asked, like he was talking to any kind Fire Nation girl who "accidently" wandered into the prison.

"Yeah, I think you can...."

~Katara~

I sighed, then walked over to Sokka. I knew revenge wasn't the answer, but I wasn't going to try and talk Summer out of whatever she was going to do.

"So, when do you plan to look for this guy?" I asked, keeping my eyes on Mariko.

~Summer~

"Now," I said. "I just need to find him."

~Katara~

I sighed again. I figured that's what Summer was going to say....

"Do you want someone to...help you?" I asked, not sure if those last two words were the right ones. I walked over to Sokka, who was holding the little girl. I never did find out her name....

~Star~

I looked around first, to make sure there weren't any more guards, and when I noticed there wasn't, I made my first move.

"What did you do to my father?" I asked, keeping my voice low. The guard looked confused.

"What?" he asked.

"You heard me. What did you do to my father?"

(Yuh-oh.....O_o')

~Summer~

"Yeah...help would be good. Sorin's....busy." I said, glancing over at him and his father. His dad was talking to him, and Sorin was just looking away, looking like he wasn't paying much attention to him.

~Katara~

"I'll help," Sokka volunteered, what I thought was a little too quickly ().

~Star~

"I-I don't know what you're talking about," the guard said, sounding confused.

I thought that over for a second. Maybe HE didn't know what I was talking about. But I wasn't going to wait and find the exact person that killed my father.

"Where you part of the raid about a year ago, on an almost-hidden village in the Earth Kingdom?" I asked, trying to keep my voice level.

"Yes. Why?" he asked, getting suspicious.

(Dun dun DUUN! xP)

(Don't do it, Star! )

~Summer~

"Then let's go." I said, motioning for him to follow me up the stairs. I didn't want to try for the guard downstairs again. I wanted to go for someone who knew what he was talking about, who could tell me exactly where ex-General Wong(First thing I could think of...^^')was. And I figured, since it seemed that the higher you got in the prison, the worst the prisoners got(Meaning what they did.), they would have older guards above us.

~Katara~

"Right." Sokka said, handing the little girl over to me. Then he followed Summer up the stairs. I looked at the girl, then at Aang.

"Now what?" I asked. Aang shrugged.

~Star~

"So you helped take over that village? The one in the middle of the forest?" I asked, just to make sure.
Then I looked into the guard's eyes. I would NEVER forget those eyes....This guard....He was the man who attacked me during the raid.....How ironic.

(heh heh heh)

~Summer~

I walked up the stairs, and a few seconds later, Sokka followed, walking up next to me.

~Sokka~

"So, when did this guy attack your parents?" I asked, catching up to her, walking up the stairs.

~Star~

I mumbled, then thought over what I should do. I could handle this calmy, and let the man go with his life....Or....I thought about the "or" part, and, right now, that sounded the best idea. So I went with that.

"You!" I hissed, the venom dripping from my voice. "You...you...I can't even think of words to describe you!" I continued, my voice getting angry. Sorry, angrier.

"What are you talking about?!" the guard asked, shocked.

"What, don't you remember me?!"

~Summer~

I didn't answer for a moment, then spoke, my voice small.

"Eight years ago. I was seven." I said simply, staring ahead, avoiding eye contact.

~Sokka~

"Oh." I said, almost sorry that I asked that question. "S-sorry," I appologized.

~Star~

"No, I don't remember you," the guard said, still shocked.

"Remember, you were the one that tried to capture me! The one who led the raid that destroyed my village! The one who killed my parents! The one who practicly took my life away from me!"

I was really at the point of screaming now. And it wasn't just some "I'm-gonna-hurt-you" scream; it was more of a "I'm-going-to-rip-your-head-off-and-your-throat-out" kind of scream.

~Summer~

All of a sudden, I could hear Star screaming behind us. Sokka and I looked each other, both wide-eyed.

"Uh...what's going on?" I asked.

~Star~

I saw a look of realization slowly spread across the guard's face. His eyes widened.

"Y-you're that Airbending girl?!" he asked, obviously surprised. Wow, what a shocker.

I nodded my head.
"Yeah, that's me."

"But...I thought....I didn't know you were still...alive." he continued.

"And why wouldn't I be alive? Did you think I would die off if I was by myself for too long? Is that what you were hoping had happened?! Well, let me tell you something!" By now, I was in his face, still screaming. I put my hand, clenched into a fist, up to his face. I'm not sure why I did; probably just out of instinct or something.
"I. Am. Not. Dead! And I will let my father be avenged! You don't deserve to still be alive, General! You took my father's life...And you don't deserve yours...."

Even I was surprised about how far I was going with this....

(Remember that "darker" Star I told you about? Yeah, you might get to see some of that....'^^
Oh yeah, and...DUUN DUUUN DUUUUUN!!!! O_O')

(O_O Wow......that's about as dark as Summer was about to go! (I'll put that off for a minute....let Sokka and Summer go check out what's going on. ))

~Summer~

We ran back to where we had left the others, and realized that Star wasn't there. I noticed that Sorin had stopped fighting with his dad, and I let out a small--Very small--sigh of relief. He was still angry at him, that was obvious, but he wasn't yelling anymore.

(Wait...do you mean that's how dark/far Summer's ever gone, or that's how dark/far () she was going to go just a few minutes ago? '^^)

~Katara~

I was just standing where I had been when Summer and Sokka left, playing with Mariko, when I heard someone yelling. Star. What was she doing now?! I looked over at Aang, and then we both started running up to where Sorin and his dad were.

When we got there, I saw everyone there...Except for Star and Toph. Of course.

"Where's Star?!" I asked, looking around.

(How dark/far she was just about to go when she went to find the ex-general/warden.)

~Sorin~

"I...don't know." I said, looking around, surprised at Katara suddenly running towards us. My dad and I had just been standing there silently, both of us refusing to say anything.

(Oooh, okay! '^^)

~Katara~

"Okay..." I said, then heard Syra following behind us. Honestly, I had forgotten completely about her. () I sighed, and put Mariko down. She look up at me, a little worried-looking, as we continued to listen to Star's screaming voice.

"Shouldn't we go find her?" I asked, surprised that everyone just stood there. Star's mother was probably too busy listening, but I wasn't sure about everyone else. Maybe they were all as shocked as I was....

~Star~

Honestly, I didn't really care how far I had to go. I would go as far as I could, and maybe even then some.

I could see the fear in the guard's widened eyes.

"No, no, no!" He muttered, trying to get the words out. I grabbed the color of his shirt, and twisted around, nearly throwing him into the closest wall there was. And yes, I did throw him. When I turned around, I let my grip go, and he flew into the wall. He fell to the ground, and I walked over to him, grabbed the collar of his shirt again, and pulled him back up.

"Why did you kill me father?!" I asked, the rage boiling up inside of me.

"I-I d-don't even know wh-who you're f-father was!" he stuttered, fear thick in his voice, too.

"He was the one that was standing beside me when you attacked me! The one that tried to stop you! And then you dragged he and my mother away. And you killed him!" I yelled, my eyes tearing up a little. I closed my eyes tightly, and shook my head, wanting to deny the fact. But I couldn't. I opened my eyes, even more angry than before.

"WHY?!" I demanded, this time yelling louder than before. I didn't care who was listening. I didn't care what they- the other guards that were sure to come eventually- would do. Throw me in one of the cells? Yeah, that would hold me....

(Wow, that was long! '^^)

~Summer~

Before anyone could say anything, I ran towards the stairs, takeing leaps down them. I came to the first floor, and there they were: Star, almost attacking the guard.

(Pfft, what do you mean "almost attacking"? )

~Star~

I noticed someone coming up the stairs, and looked away from the guard, towards where the person was coming from. It was Summer. That's also when I realized something else; Toph was gone. Kind of strange.

But I wasn't in the mood for someone to try talking me out of what I was doing, or to tell me that I was doing something bad. I turned my head from the direction Summer was standing, back to the guard.

"You didn't answer my question!" I argued, pushing the guard into the wall.

"H-he was an Earthbender! I had to kill him!" the guard said back. That made me really angry.

"He wasn't an Earthbender!" I screamed back, pushing the guard against the wall again, and holding him there that time. "You killed him for no reason! Like I said, you don't deserve your own life!" I yelled.

"Wha-what are you going to do to me?!" he asked, trying to get free of my grip. I stopped, thinking, concentrating on what he had said. I couldn't kill him...I just couldn't.........But what other choice did I have, really....?

"What you did to my father!" I answered, closing my eyes for a split second, then letting the guard drop to the floor. I stood, towering above him, as he nearly trembled on the ground. I could feel the evil grin spreading across my face. What was happening to me? This was so bad, yet it felt...so right, almost. I had to stop myself, but...I just couldn't. The guard starting trembling again, and I heard a few more footsteps coming up the stairs. I looked over, and yelled to everyone who was standing there.

"Get back! This is MY revenge!!"

~Summer~

I had been standing there, watching Star yell at this guard. I wasn't about to interfere, though, because that was probably the same thing I was about to do to the warden. Well, I'd probably kill him, but just about the same thing.

Eeveryone else came running up behind me, and Star yelled at them, telling them that this was her revenge.

"She's right," I said, watching her. "Let her do what she has to do."
