Chance Meeting-An Avatar Story

~Toph~

So that's what happened? I listened to what he said, and obviously, he sounded REALLY upset. I was wishing I could do something, but I just stayed sitting in my spot, a blank look probably on my face....

~Star~

I led everyone back up the stairs, and nobody spoke the whole time. A few moments later, I met back up with everyone. But I noticed that Sorin, Summer, and Toph were missing. Hmm...

~Jonas~

After a few minutes longer, a girl, who was carrying a little girl, and a boy caming walking down the stairwell.

(....Sorry it's so short! ^^')

~Star~

"Did you find your mom?" I heard Katara ask the minute she came into view. I was about to speak for myself, but then my mother came walking from behind the corner, into view.

"Yeah," I said, smiling weakly. I noticed everyone else smile, then I noticed some man standing there who wasn't standing there before.

"Ah, you must be Sorin's dad?" I pretty much asked, looking at the man.

~Jonas~

"Yes, I am." I answered. "The name's Jonas."

~Star~

"Nice to meet you, Jonas. I'm Star," I said, smiling at the fact that Sorin had found one of his parents. Wait....

"Um, where's Sorin?" I asked, looking around. I didn't have a very good feeling about this....

~Jonas~

"He kind of...ran off, after I...told him something." I said.

~Star~

"Oh." I replied, knowing what I had feared what was. I was just wondering what Sorin's dad had told him that made him run off. And I was hoping that he didn't have to go through the same thing I just had to go through...But that was the only thing that came to mind.

"Uh...Maybe I should go talk to him?" I said, and started to walk towards some direction. But Sokka stopped me.

"It looks like Summer and Toph already have that covered. Give him some room," he told me. I sighed, looking at everyone around me.

~Jonas~

"Summer and Toph?" I asked.


~Summer~

I had managed to get Sorin to stand up, but he wouldn't talk again. He just stared blankly at the ground.

"Come on." I said to him gently.

~Star~

"Two of the girls who were here earlier," Aang explained.

"So, what did you tell Sorin that made him run away like that?" I asked, though I was pretty sure I knew the answer to that....

~Toph~

Sorin had stood up, and Summer told him to "come on". But I just stayed on my spot on the ground. I kept my face facing the ground. I wasn't sure what to do....

(EDIT FROM THE DISTANT FUTURE! Okay, so here I am, sitting here, reading this old thing, wincing at about every other thing I wrote, when I noticed..."the image of those ruthless monsters killing her still fresh in my hand." ...HAND. THAT DOESN'T EVEN MAKE ANY SENSE WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?!)


~Jonas~

For a moment, I stayed silent, staring at the ground. Finally, I spoke.

"Delilah....his mother.....is....g-gone." I managed, the image of those ruthless monsters killing her still fresh in my hand.

~Summer~

He wouldn't come, so I took his hand in mine, and started to walk. He followed, still gripping onto my hand.

"Let's go." I said to Toph.

~Toph~

"Right." I said, jumping up from my spot on the ground, and following the two newest lovebirds. ()

~Star~

I couldn't say that I was shocked, because I kind of new this was coming. But I couldn't help the feeling of...almost shock and sorrow mixed...running through my body. It all met up at my stomach, and I nearly cringed.

"I knew it," I mumbled, gripping onto Mariko tighter.

~Summer~

We walked up the stairs, and the whole time, he was just staring at the ground. Finally, we came back to the others.

~Star~

I was about to say something else, but I heard something, and turned around. I saw Sorin, Summer, and Toph was probably following somewhere behind them. I walked up to them, not sure what to say.

"I...I'm really sorry, Sorin..." I said, at a lack for words.

~Summer~

I glanced at Sorin, who just continued to stare at the ground, a disgruntled, if not mad, look on his face. He looked up, but not at Star. He looked straight over at his Dad, and for some reason, he looked really mad at him.

~Star~

I saw the almost-angry look on his face as he looked up, and looked over my shoulder. He was probably looking at someone behind me....His dad, maybe?

I looked at Summer, a probably-nearly-worried look on my face.....

~Toph~

I followed Summer and Sorin up the stairs. I could feel that someone else was here....Maybe Star had found her mom....But wait, what about her dad?

I went over and stood silently by Star's mom.

"So..uh...you're Star's mom, right?" I asked, trying to start low converstation. She nodded her head. So I nodded my head in response.

~Sorin~

I stared at my father, hate in my eyes.

It's his fault. If he could've saved her..... I thought.

~Summer~

I looked over at Sorin's father, who was standing a little behind everyone else, and spoke.

"So...you're Sorin's father?" I asked, which was obvious, but I was trying to start some sort of...conversation.

~Star~

I looked back at Sorin, who was obviously angry. I wasn't sure what to say; I didn't want to anger or upset him anymore. I just stood there, looking at him (), for a few moments. Then I looked away, and, a few moments later, I walked away. I wasn't sure where I was going. I just needed some time by myself....

~Toph~

I heard Star's mother and Sokka trying to start converstation.

"So, you're Star's mother?" Sokka asked, a little hesitant.

"Yeah," she said, obviously distracted. "And how do you know my daughter?" she asked, not in an angry tone neccisarily, just...suspicious. I think the motherly intincints were about to kick back on. ()

(heh heh )

~Summer~

"Yes, I am." He answered, looking me over. "And you are?"

"Summer." I answered, my voice small. I know that Sorin had said that his father was good, but I always felt a little...scared, a little...hateful, towards people from the Fire Nation.

~Star~

I had walked away, not really sure where I was going. But I just stopped once I got a few feet away, where nobody could see me. I leaned against the wall, and gradually slid down, until I was sitting on the ground. I hugged my knees tightly, and burried my face in my lap. I could feel the warm, silent tears starting to flow again. I was glad that I could cry silently; it was less embarressing right now. It was very hard for me to imagine my dad being gone forever. I couldn't even begin imagining it....

~Toph~

I listened to Sokka explain to Star's mother how he knew Star. Then I heard him add "And I've saved her life two different times" in some kind of smug tone. ()

"Really?" Star's mother sounded a little surprised, and a little suspicous. It was fun to listen to their conversation.

(Hmm...)

~Summer~

I looked at Sorin, who was still just staring at his dad(), and decided to do something.

"Hey...guys, how about we give Sorin and his dad sometime?" I asked.

~Toph~

"...Well then, Azula, the princess of the Fire Nation, showed up, and-" Sokka explained, continueing (sp? '^^) a conversation with Star's mom. That's when Summer spoke, cutting him off.
Summer figured that we should give Sorin and his dad some time by themselves. I shrugged, and waited for someone to leave. I'd follow the first person that left....For a few seconds, nobody moved. They were all frozen in place, it seemed.

"I'll go find Star," I said, walking off to where Star was. Once I got to her, I sat down beside her, and sighed.

~Star~

I had been sitting there, my face burried, for a few minutes. Then I noticed someone -Toph- sit down beside me. I looked up, wiping the tears away with the back of my sleeve. Toph sighed, then spoke.

"What happened?" she asked, her voice sounding truly sympathetic. I took a deep breath, and exhaled sharply.

"Same thing that happened to Sorin," was all I could manage to say.

"But wasn't that your mom out the-" Toph started, but I cut her off.

"Sorin lost his mom....And I lost my dad...." I said, unable to think of more words to use.

"Oh." Toph replied simply....

~Summer~

I motioned for everyone to walk down the stairs, away from Sorin and his dad. I tried to be as subtle as possible, and they got the message. We walked away from Sorin and his father, but we would probablyu still be able to hear what they were saying.

~Jonas~

After those other kids left with Summer, I walked towards my son, putting a hand on his shoulder.

"Sorin, listen. I am so sorry. I know what you're going through. You think I don't miss he-" But before I could continue, he moved his shoulder away. He spoke, his voice hateful.

"No....you don't understand," He started, at first his voice very quiet. "It's your fault she's gone! If you had been able to stop them, then she would be ok, and she wouldn't be.....d..dead!" He shouted, staring right at me.

~Star~

There had only been a few seconds of silence until I heard Sorin yell something. I started to stand up, but Toph stopped me.

"Don't. Sorin is having some "alone time" with his dad," she said, and I sat back down....I leaned my head against the wall, and closed my eyes.

"I miss him so much," I said, mostly to myself. I opened my eyes, only to let two or three warm tears make a trail down my face.

~Summer~

I closed my eyes, cinging when Sorin yelled at his dad. Part of me wanted to go talk to him, but I knew that he needed to do that. Also, it was about time I got to the main reason I had come there.

I had been leaning against the wall, but I stood up, speaking.

"I...uh....need to tell you guys something." I said, a little...nervous.

(O_o Dun, dun, DUNNNNN!!!!!)

(Hmm...Who's point of view shall I do now...? Oh, I know! This should be...interesting....)

~Mariko~

The mister that was hold me before () was still holding me when everyone walked away from the two people who were yelling at each other. Then the girl with the pretty hair said something. She sounded scared or something.

"What is it, Summer?" the girl with the pretty braided hair (let's just say Katara kept her hair braided '^^) asked the girl with pretty hair.

(Hmm...that WAS fun. )
