Chance Meeting-An Avatar Story

(......*Narrows eyes* EVIL, I SAY!!!)

~Sorin~

"D-dad?" I managed after a second, staring at the man sitting in the back of the cell. He had been leaning against the wall, his eyes closed. He opened his eyes immediately, gasping.

"Sorin" He asked in his deep voice.

"Dad!" I shouted, scrambling to get the door open.

(Woo! Yay for Sorin! Well......for the moment, at least. BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!)

(Yay!! )

~Star~

My eyes focused on the woman standing in the middle of the cell.

"M-mom...?" I asked, my voice hoarse from coming tears. I smiled, a few tears spilling over the rims of my eyes....

(There ya go! Happy?! ())

(Yes! )

~Sorin~

Finally, I managed to get the door open, I swung it open, running inside and instantly falling to the ground in front of my father and hugging him.

"D-dad." I said, digging my face into his shoulder.

"Hey, kiddo." He said, his voice almost a little.....sad.

~Star~

I motioned for Sokka to come over to where I was standing, and when he did, I handed Mariko over to him. "Hey there, mister!" I heard Mariko say. ()

"Mom," I said, my voice still a little hoarse, if not a little shaky. "I'm going to have to have you stand against the wall for a second." I continued. She knew what I was talking about. She got as far against one of the walls as possible, and shielded her face. I took an Airbending stance, and I shot a big gust of wind (for lack of better words '^^) at the cell door. I heard it hit the ground, and as the dust was clearing ('^^), I ran into the cell....

~Sorin~

I sat there, hugging him for about a minute, then finally let go, tears clouding my eyes. Suddenly, I realized something, as I scanned the cell.

"Where's mom?" I asked, still smiling.

(Yuh-oh.....)

(Hehe, kinda ironic...'^^ )

~Star~

I ran into my mother's cell, and nearly knocked my mother back into the wall as I hugged her ().

"Mom!" I said, hugging her tightly. "I thought I'd never see you again!" The tears were now flowing freely.

"It's good to see you again, too, Star," she said, her voice cracking a little. I could tell she was crying a little bit, too.

"So emotional," I heard Sokka say from behind us. I couldn't tell if he was being sarcastic or not. ()

A few moments later, I pulled away, looking at my mother.

"Where's dad?" I asked, getting that little twinge of worry in the pit of my stomach...

(Told ya it was kidna ironic. )

(heh heh)

~Sorin~

After a few moments, my father still hadn't answered me.

"Dad? Wh-where is she?" I asked, starting to get a little worried.

"I...I tried to stop them Sorin...But.....I was too weak." He said, looking me straight in the eye. I shook my head, as if that would make what my father had just said go away.

"No." I said.

~Star~

I got even more worried when she hesitated to answer. She looked down, and I almost felt sick at my stomach as I realized what she was going to say.

"There's no easy way to say this, Star...." she started, brushing back part of my bangs that had fallen over my face.

"N-no..." I muttered, not wanting to believe that fact. I shook my head, mouthing the word "no" over and over again....

(heh, Star and Sorin seem to both be going through the same tramatic.....whatever you would call this. )

~Sorin~

I stood up, stumbling back a little out of the cell.

"She can't be.....No!" I yelled, as he stood up.

"Sorin, please." But it was too late. I had already taken off running back down the hall, past everyone else and down the stairway.

"Sorin!" He shouted, and I could hear him running after me, then stopping around where everyone had been standing, out of breath.

(Hehe, yep....)

~Toph~

I could feel Sorin running past us, not only by the vibrations, but the wind that went past us as he pasted.

"Uh, shouldn't someone go do something?" I asked, pointing towards where he was running.

~Star~

I shook my head, unable to believe what my mother was telling me. I knew what she was talking about, and she didn't have to say any words to tell me. My father was dead. He was killed by the Fire Nation, and I would never see him again....The pain I felt inside was like nothing I'd ever felt before.

"Well, at least you're safe," I said, trying to fake a smile. I pulled it off for a second, but my lip started to tremble, and the tears started to flow silently down my face again. My mother pulled me into her arms and wrapped her arms tight around me. I burried my head in her shoulder, and the silent tears started flowing again. This couldn't be happening. I had been so happy only moments ago, and now...now this. I wasn't sure I could take much more....

~Summer~

I watched Sorin run past us, tears flowing from his eyes. A moment later, his dad came running out of the cell. Somehow, I just knew what had happened.

No. I thought in my mind. He doesn't deserve that....No one does, but especially not him. I thought.

~Star~

"Oh, Star, honey," my mother said, trying to comfort me. "I know how you must feel....But it's going to be all right...." I could hear the tears in my mother's voice now, and I could just imagine how Sokka felt about this. If I wasn't so upset, I'd be alittle embarressed....
When I pulled away, I wiped most of the tears from my face, and made sure that I was composed enough to turn around. When I did, I saw Mariko and Sokka watching me, just like I'd figured they would. They both looked kind of sad, and Mariko looked at me with those big, blue eyes...()

~Toph~

"Well, don't everyone run off at once," I said, sighing. Figuring I had to do something, or felt the need to do something, I took off in the direction Sorin had run off.

(Toph to the rescue! )

~Sorin~

I practically leapt down the stairs, tears flowing down my face. I ran into a closeby cell, figuring I shouldn't run outside. I fell to the ground of the cell, my tears dotting the floor.

~Toph~

I took my time once I got down the stairs. I figured that that I should give Sorin a little time to...calm down. He was hiding in one of the nearby cells, so I figured that I'd stand out of sight until I figured he was calm enough to not try to kill me out of anger. Not that he could kill me....()

~Star~

I just stood there, nearly shocked into my place. It felt like I couldn't move, like I couldn't do anything but stand there and cry. At least I wasn't sobbing or anything....Sokka moved Mariko into one arm, and held his other arm out in front of him. At first, I still couldn't move. But, when I could, I nearly ran into his arms.

(Hehehe...)

(Aww....)


~Summer~

I watched as Toph ran after Sorin. I narrowed my eyes, then walked after her.

(SOMEONE'S jealous. )

~Toph~

I gave Sorin about two minutes before I became impatient. I walked into the cell he was hiding in, and just leaned casually against the wall.

"Everything okay?" I asked, though I already knew the answer.

(I don't have time to do Star's point of view, so I'll do that in the next post! '^^ Bye! )

~Sorin~

"G-go away." I mumbled, now sitting facing against the wall.

~Toph~

I kinda figured he'd be stubborn, so I just slid down the wall, now sitting down, and leaned against the wall.

"Just tryin' to help," I mumbled, waiting for him to be ready to talk.

~Star~

I just stood there for a second, my arms wrapped tightly around Sokka (), my eyes producing fresh tears. I hid my face in his shoulder while I tried to compose my face.

(Hmm....)

~Sorin~

"Leave. Me. Alone." I mumbled, hearing her sit down in the cell.

~Summer~

I walked down the stairs slowly, listening to see if they were saying anything.

~Toph~

"Whenever you're ready to talk..." I said, my voice trailing off at the end. I just sat there, leaning my head against the wall, sighing.

~Star~

Once I figured that I had my face composed enough, I pulled away. Mariko still looked a little worried.

"Are you okay?" she asked in her little baby-like voice. I couldn't help but smile slightly through the tears. I nodded my head, and managed a "Yeah, I'm fine"....

~Summer~

I soon came to the end of the stairwell. I could hear Toph's voice coming froma cell, so I crept over towards it.

~Toph~

I could feel that Summer was coming over to the cell we were in.

"Maybe you could talk to your friend about it," I said, a little annoyed. Then again, what could I expect? ()

~Star~

Mariko reached for me, so I took her in my arms again. "I'm sowwy," she said, trying to comfort me.

"It's okay, Mariko." I said. I turned back to my mother, who was watching me, trying to keep herself from going wide-eyed.

"Is she-" she began, but I cut her off.

"No, mom, she's not mine," I said, laughing a little, though it sounded kind of hoarse.

~Summer~

I walked slowly into the cell, noticing that Sorin was sitiing, facing against the wall. I walked over to him, sitting down next to him. I didn't say anything at first, then after a few seconds of silence, I spoke.

"What happened?" I asked, keeping my eyes on the wall in front of us.

~Toph~

I just sat there, seeing if Sorin would answer Summer. More than likely, he would....

~Star~

"M-maybe we should get back to the others. Let the others know about...the news...." I said, for lack of better words to explain my extreme joy that I had found my mother, and the terrible sorrow that washed over me when I found out about my dad....

~Summer~

We basically just sat there, not moving, for about three minutes. Finally, he spoke, his voice really hoarse.

"My....m-mom's dead." He said, and my heart skipped a beat. My eyes widened, and I immediatly spoke.

"Oh my gosh...Sorin.....I'm so sorry."

Suddenly, a few tears trickled down his cheeks, and he spoke again.

"She....she didn't deserve that., Sh-she was s-so ni-nice, a-and s-so c-caring..." He said, his voice starting to crack even more. Without thinking, I turned, hugging him tightly.

(Hm.....Okay, I think I'll do something from Sorin's dad's point-of-view so we can "check in" with the Gaang. )

~Jonas~

I had been standing there with the seemingly Water Tribe girl and a kid who looked very much like the Avatar, who seemed to be traveling with my son, for about five minutes. Finally, the Avatar look-a-like spoke.

"So....You're Sorin's dad?" He asked, obviously a little uncomfortable.

"Yes." I answered simply, pretty much ending any prospects of a conversation.
