Sword Fighting Show Down

"I don't really know." I said. "Did you hurt yourself when you tripped?" I asked.

I raised an eyebrow. "You think I'd be sitting here, otherwise?" I said, bored.

I didn't answer her, merely crouched down next to her.

"Where's it hurt?" I asked.

I sat in front of the fire, feeling the heat on my face. Jonathan and Elandri hadn't come back yet, so I just sat there, staring into the fire.
That's when I heard the noise behind me. It sounded like....flapping wings? I turned around, only to see a messanger hawk standing behind me. I scooted over to it and took the piece of paper from it. And I nearly dropped it when I found out who it was from. My hands were shaking as I slowly rolled it open....

She didn't answer, merely looked away.

"Fine, whatever. I'll see you back at camp." It was kind of rude if me, but I was sick of her attitude. I got up and walked back to camp. When I got back, I saw Lynn sitting on the ground with a piece of paper in her hand. She hadn't noticed me yet, her eyes were on the paper.

"Whatcha got there?" I asked.

I jumped when Jonathan spoke, not realizing he was there.
"It's a...a letter," I replied, still a little shocked. My hands were still shaking, but I tried to steady them, not wanting to look like an idiot in front of Jonathan. I looked up at him, then back at the paper. And a faint shade of red crossed my cheeks; I could feel the sudden heat on my face.

I probably looked a little confused. I mean, I was wondering how she could've possibly gotten a letter out here. I walked over to her and sat down next to her.

"Who from?"

"Zuko...." I whispered, my voice faint, weak. I hadn't actually read the letter yet; I was about to when Jonathan showed up. But I saw his signature at the bottom of the letter.

I was so absored with the letter that I didn't even realize Jonathan come and sit down next to me. I jumped a little when I looked over and he was only about a foot away.

She had barely even said who it was from, but I made out the name.

"Who's Zuko?" I asked. For some reason, I felt something rising inside of me. Jealousy? Nah, I thought, couldn't be.

(heh heh)

"He's...." I started, trying to regain my voice. "He's the one I ran away from. And the one who gave me the necklace...." I would've explained more, but I didn't want my voice to crack. And I didn't want to burst into tears in front of Jonathan.

"Oh." I stated simply. She had a weird look on her face. Sadness, it seemed.

"Are you alright?" I asked.

I took a deep breath and exhaled sharply before answering.
"Y-yeah, I'm fine...." I replied. I looked down at the letter, and I was very tempted to just throw it in the fire. He had hurt me, so why should I do anything that had to involve him? But I gripped the piece of paper, then lifted it closer so I could read it.

I was close enough to her to read the letter without her noticing, but I figured I shouldn't snoop. Did that stop me? Of course not.

I took another deep breath and forced my eyes in the direction of the letter. I read the first part, which simply said 'Dear Lynn', and my eyes started to tear up. I looked away quickly, wiping them away with my free hand.

I tried to stop myself from reading the letter, but I couldn't. I read the first line, which only said "Dear Lynn". My mind was racing with who this Zuko guy could be, and what he did to Lynn to make her run away from him.

I decided to read the letter sentance by sentance, figuring it would be easier that way. So I looked back at the letter and continued reading it.
The second sentence said:
'This is harder than I thought it would be.
Then I proggressed to the third sentence:
I just want to appoligize for everything I said and did....

I took a deep breath, trying to hold back tears. I finally handed the letter to Jonathan.
"Okay, I know I'm gonna sound stupid, but....can you read the rest of that to me? I don't know if I could read it myself without....doing something embarressing...." I said, blushing anyway....

I was surprised at first, but I nodded and took the letter from her. I began reading it from the beginning.

"Dear Lynn,

This is harder than I thought it would be.
I just wanted to apoligize for everything I said and did....."

Okay, I'm not sure exactly what Zuko did, so could you tell me? Or, if you want, I could just put: 'I read the rest of the letter to her, all the way to where he signed his name. Zuko. I could see the tears welling up in her eyes, but I wasn't sure what to do.' Ane then maybe have Jon hug her or something.......

(Hmm...I think the second one would be good; where you just put "I finished reading her the letter" or something. Because he really did do something to her in the story, and she really did run away, and since you'll probably end up reading the rest of it, I'd rather not tell you what happens. Oh, and after you post the post where Jonathan says whatever he's gonna say, do you want me to delete this post and the post before it? To make things easier?)

I read the rest of the letter to her, all the way to where he signed his name. Zuko. I could see the tears welling up in her eyes, but I wasn't sure what to do. So, very awkwardly, I put my arms around her and hugged her.

He read the letter, from the beginning to the end. And Zuko had put something about being "terribly sorry" and "wishing he hadn't done what he'd done". But the part that stood out most was the line that said 'I wish I had never said that to you, and I regret every moment of that fight. I really wish you would come back, or never would've left for that matter. But I honestly think I did it for the right reasons. I miss you horribly, but, even if you came back, I would've kept my choice the same.
It took me a second to think things over. And when my brain finally regestered it, I felt a terrible aching feeling in my heart. Then my eyes started to tear up.
The next thing I knew, Jonathan had his arms around me, hugging me. I hugged him back akwardly. And I could feel my face flush red. It took alot to make me blush like that......I was wondering if this was as akward to him as it was to me.

My whole face was bright red. I mean, it was probably the color of a cherry or something. Hugging her was the only thing I could think of to do. If it was possible, my face got even brighter when she hugged me back. A few seconds later, I let go, trying to make my face regain color. I looked at her, and was almost relieved when I saw her face was red, too. I stuttered as I spoke.

"I-I don't know what th-this guy d-did, b-but I'm s-sorry." I said, trying to avoid eye contact.

I looked away quickly, trying not to make eye contact.
"T-thanks..." I finally muttered. A few minutes of silence had passed, and my face had probably already regain color. I skimmed over the letter one more time. Then I swiftly threw it into the fire, watching it desintigrate(sp?) into ashes

I noticed her hand move after a few minutes, and realized she had thrown the letter into the fire. I had to force myself not to smile. I merely smirked a little. I scratched at my scar, which had been hurting a little lately.

I noticed that Jonathan smirked a little, and I couldn't help but smile a little, too. Then my smile faded. "Look....I have to write him back, okay.....?" I said, my voice merely a whisper. As much as I didn't want to, I didn't want Zuko to think that I was dead or something.....I sighed, looking back into the fire.

I frowned a little, still itching at my scar.

"R-right." I said, almost sounding disapointed. I sighed and sat up, some water dripping off of my shirt. That's when I realized how soaking wet I was. I walked closer to the fire and sat down, taking off my shirt and tried to squeeze it dry.
