Chance Meeting-An Avatar Story

~Star~

I watched as the guard-person ()walked up behind Katara and Sorin. He looked between Sokka and I, and then smirked a bit, nearly throwing Summer into the wall. I didn't even realize he was holding her, if I could use those words.

The guard-person said something "this being easy". I think that's when he noticed the guards that I had killed/tied up and thrown into walls around the room. His eyes were wide at first, but then, his expression changed to being almost angry.

"What should be easy, sir?" I asked, a smirk spreading across my own face.

~Summer~

I felt him throw me into the wall. Hard. I opened my eyes, and noticed he was talking to Star and Sokka. He spoke.

"Well, I was going to say capturing you, but maybe I should just kill you now. Considering that's what you did to my guards, why should I show any mercy? Don't worry; I'll make it quick."

"N-no.." Was all I could whimper out. I doubt anyone could hear me.

~Star~

I looked over at Summer, who was now laying on the floor. Then I glanced back up at the guard-person, who began to speak. He said that he was originaly going to capture us, but now he planned to kill us, because I hurt his guards. Apperantly, he was the warden of this place.

"Oh, darn." I said, in mock disappointment. "You mean you're not going to show us any mercy? Not even a little bit?" I made a little space between my index finger and my thumb. I saw the warden shake his head like I was crazy. So I tried a different response.

"I didn't kill any but one of your guards. The rest are just knocked out. Unconcious. But, if you wish, you can "make it quick"....Oh, and don't worry....I'll make it quicker." As I said that, I took an Airbending stance, ready to fight....

(Hmm...is "quicker" even a word...? Well, if it's not, let's just say it is! )

~Summer~

After Star said that she'd make it quicker, the warden scoffed. He saw her take some kind of airbending stance, and didn't flinch. He took a firebending stance I'd never seen before. In basically the time it took me to blink, he shot a huge ball of fire at Star and Sokka.

~Star~

I noticed the warden take a Firebending stance, and then shot a ball of fire racing towards Sokka and I. In a split-second, I looked over at Sokka to make sure he was ready to fight. Of course, he wasn't. The fireball took him by surprise.

When I turned to face the warden again, the fireball was only a few inches from my face. In another millisecond, I took a step back, and pushed both of my palms forward. A huge tornado-like spiral of wind went towards the fireball, and collided with it, making it extinguish completely.

I smirked. I'd handled worse before....

~Summer~

The warden didn't seem shaken by what Star had just done. I wish I could tell her...He never gives up. Ever.

The warden shot three smaller fireballs at Star.

~Star~

I could tell that this guy never gave up. That's okay; neither did I.

He sent three smaller fireballs at me, and I managed to dodge all but one. Luckily, the one I didn't dodge just slightly grazed my arm. Unforinatuly (sp?), it hit the same spot I had gotten cut earlier before. Ouch. ()

I gasped slighty, and recoiled, grabbing my arm in pain. I looked up at the warden, and knew I had to put more effort into my fighting. And that's when something randomly popped into my head. The others. What had happened to everyone else who had stayed behind? And did the warden know about them? If I just happened to get killed or injured badly here, there was nothing I could do to save them....I let go of my arm, and got back into a fighting stance, this one more on the "advanced"-like level of Airbending. I was ready to fight. Nothing would stop me....

(Hmm....That turned out...strangely....'^^)

~Summer~

I tried to stand up. I had to at least try to help. As I struggled to stand, I looked at the warden. It seemed as though he had given up on firebending for the moment and was going hand-to-hand. He grabbed his dagger and ran towards Star, taking a stab at her.

(Man...I can't think of anything to say! ^^')

~Star~

Once I repositioned myself into my stance, I realized that the warden had given up on Firebending for his style of fighting. How'd I guess? He started towards me, a dagger in his hand.

I had no weapons to fight back with. Now, I was helpless.

I just stood there, technically surrendering. I knew I could think of something last second. But once the warden stabbed at me the first time, Sokka jumped in front of me. The only thing that crossed my mind: No...NO!

Before I had time to freak out, I realized what Sokka was doing. And he didn't get hurt, to my great relief (). He had used that boomerang thing of his to block the dagger, and knock it to the floor. Here's what went through my head:

Gee, thanks for nearly giving me a heart attack, Sokka!

(....)

(....I think I'll do this one through the warden's point of view. ^^)

~..Warden~ (^^')

Before my dagger could make contact with the young airbender, a water-tribe boy jumped in front of her, blocking it with a boomerang, and knocking it to the ground. I simply scoffed and grabbed my sword.

~Star~

I heard the guard simply scoff when his dagger hit the floor, and when I looked up, he had a sword. What to use to fight with now...?

I rushed back into the room with the guards, and I grabbed the sword from the guard who was..uh...dead....? ()

I raced back in, taking my spot beside Sokka this time.

~Sokka~

I watched Star run off into the other room. What the heck was she doing?!

When she came back, she was holding a sword. Wonderful.

"Do you even know how to sword-fight?" I asked.

"Well, now's a great time to learn, huh?" She said, and I rolled my eyes. Yeah, this should turn out great....

~Warden~

I looked at the airbender doubtfully. Judging by the what the water tribe boy had said, and by what I could see, she obviously couldn't use a sword very well. I smirked, and immediately swung at her side.

~Star~

The warden swung at my side, and I jumped back enough just in time, and the sword missed me by inches. The warden almost looked irritated (sp? '^^). I smirked, and then said in a teasing tone:

"What's wrong, Mr. Warden? Mad that you can't beat a girl?"

I saw Sokka shake his head, almost like he was embarressed.

(.... '^^)

~Warden~

In truth, I was not mad. She was a good opponent. Realy, I was just toying with her; seeing the extent of what she could do.

I took another swing, lighting my sword on fire.

~Star~

The warden took another swing at me, this time, lighting his sword on fire. I avoided it again, and tried swinging the sword I was holding at the warden.

~Warden~

The young airbender tried to swing her sword at me, but I dodged it easily.

Ametaur... I thought. ()

I made a sweep at her stomach, making a small cut.

~Star~

I missed the warden, which wasn't really surprising. He swung at my stomach, and, this time, hitting me. It only made a small cut, though....

~Syra (Star's Mother)~

I was standing around with the others, waiting. The three children that had ran off had told everyone else to wait here. I was holding the little girl that Star was holding earlier. She couldn't be any older than 7 years old, but she looked younger than that....

My revery was broken when the boy who seemed to be younger than the others spoke. It sounded like he was starting to get worried.

"Don't worry, Twinkletoes," the girl standing next to him, who seemed to be blind, though she got around fine, said. "I'm sure they're fine...."

~Summer~

I had managed to get up enough so that I could lean against the wall. I noticed that the warden had hit Star on the stomach, but he hadn't cut too deep. I looked at him, my eyes a little fuzzy, and quicker than I thought I had been able to move, I grabbed my swords and ran at him. Somehow, I caught him off guard for once, and hit him in the side.

~Star~

I was about to make my next move, when I stopped in my tracks. I hadn't even noticed Summer get up, much less hit the warden in the side with her own sword. My eyes widened, and I was a little surprised, if not confused, about what was going on....

~Summer~

I had been sitting there long enough to regain some enrgy, and I was ready to do what I had originally meant to do: Kill the warden.

The warden was now on the ground, and before he could get up, I brught my swords down on him. He blocked them long enough to get up, and stabbed at my stomach. He missed, but I stumbled back.

~Star~

I watched Summer try to fight the warden, but the only attempt he made at hitting her, Summer blocked it. I walked up to Sokka, watching Summer and the warden. But I was ready to fight at a minute's notice....

~Summer~

"Do you not know better, child?" He said to me, staring at me.

"You'll never beat me. I killed your parents with this sword, and I'll do the same to you. If you give up now, I promise, I'll make it quick." He said smugly. Unfortunately, this only made me more enraged. I ran at him, swinging right at his head. I hit him with the broad side of my sword, probably leaving a nice bruise, but I didn't leave much damage.

~Star~

I just stood there, silently watching the fight. That's when I caught glimpse of Katara, who was on the other side of the battle, with the same exact expression. I rushed over to her side, but she didn't take her eyes off the fight. I asked her what had happened, and why she had told the warden where we were. But she never answered. It seemed like, when I brought that up, it made her remember something.

It sounded like she said someone's name, but I couldn't understand it clearly; she was talking to fast. Then she dashed off, past the fight, past Sokka, passed the room with the guards, and just kept on going. I started chasing after her, to see what was going on....

~Summer~

Still full of rage at the warden's comment, I swung aimlessly at him. I missed the first time, but actually got a nice cut in on his side. He grabbed his side with his free hand, then brought it back in front of him, blood on it. He glared at me, and instantly, he dropped his sword, and shot fire at me. Obviously, I tried to dodge it, but the fire hit my arm. I gasped in pain, but tried to ignore the large burn now on my arm.

~Sokka~

I wanted to help Summer fight this warden guy, but I thought that she'd probably want to take him herself, since he killed her parents or something. So I just stood there and watched. ()

~Star~

I followed Katara once I got her to slow down. She kept on walking, or running, until we got back to the room where everyone else stood, watching. Once I came in the room, still holding the sword, which I had honestly forgotten was still in my hand, almost everyone took a step back. I looked at them, then the sword in my hand, and figured they thought I was still demented or something....
