Chance Meeting-An Avatar Story

~Star~

I quickly glanced over my shoulder to check things out. Of course, Summer was running my way. I had to make this quick!

"And WHY did you throw that vase at me?!" the man asked, his voice mad and angry.

"Because....Because I just don't like you!" I said, trying to keep my voice steady. He yelled something unintelligable at me, and then took a fighting stance. I figured that, if I was gonna try to get myseslf into the jail, I was gonna have to do something..."bad".

Before the man could attack me, I attacked him. I sent a huge gust of wind at him, knocking him off his feet.

"Hey!" he exclaimed. "She's that Airbender!" Oh great, so I WAS known in the Fire Nation....
I looked over at the prison (I figured it wouldn't be too far away), and saw that the guards that might've been inside were now outside, watching all the comotion. When the man screamed the word "Airbender", the guards started running towards me. Both of them. When they got close enough, I blasted them with a gust of wind as well. Two more- and what I was hoping would be the final two- ran outside and towards the shop. I pretty much "surrenedered" then, letting the guard-soldier-people get me.

~Sorin~

We had been looking around for Star for about five minutes now, when we heard someone shout. We all looked over towards the marketplace, and gasped in almost perfect synchronization. Star was there, and she had just shot a gust of air at this man. He yelled "Airbender!", and practically seconds later, four guards came running out of the prison. Luckily, they didn't notice us. I spoke.

"What is she doing?!" I yelled.


~Summer~

What is she doing?! I thought, as four guards came running from the prison towards Star. () They ran up to her, and she pretty much surrendered. It took me a moment, but then I realized what she was doing.

She's trying to get us in there. I thought, then pretty much a second after I tjought this, I ran as fast as I could back towards the group. The second I got close enough to shout without being heard by the guards, I yelled.

"Get inside!" I yelled, hoping this would work. Luckily, everyone obeyed. We ran inside the prison, and to our luck, there was no one there.

(Wow....that was long!)

(Yay! Star's plan worked! )

~Star~

I saw everyone run into the prison as I got drug away by the guards. I was glad they had caught onto my plan.

I was quite as the guards literaly drug me into the prison. I mean, if they would've let me, I would've volunterilay (sp? '^^) walked with my hands behind me back. But they decided to drag me the whole way. But I didn't say anything; at least everyone had gotten inside. I was just hoping that there weren't any more guards right inside, and that they all got inside without any trouble.....

~Sorin~

We ran inside, looking around. We knew that the guars would be back with Star any moment now, and we had to find somewhere to hide. We noticed a hallway with a bunch of cells in it, and ran down the hall, running into one of the cells. We hid, closing the door and locking it. There was a window in the door, so I stood there, looking out of it carefully.

~Star~

Once we got inside the prison, the guards finally let me stand up. I walked, with my hands held behind my back, down one of the hallways. I could've sworn that I saw Sorin looking out of one of the windows. Maybe they were hiding until the coast was clear again. I gave him an assuring wink, as if to say that I'd find a way out of this.

A few moments later, we came up to an empty cell. They pushed me in, and said a few words that I really wasn't paying attention to. As they pulled the cell door shut, I saw a smirk on one of the guys faces. Another one said "We should tell Princess Azula immediatly! Imagine what she'll do when she finds out that WE captured the Airbending girl!"
Azula. That wasn't a name I really wanted to hear right now....

This whole situation kind of reminded me of the time I got stuck on Azula's ship. Except, then, I wasn't completely alone in a cell like I was now. I looked around, and sighed. I didn't plan on the keeping my hands behind my back. I'm not sure if they roped them, or something else, but it didn't really matter. I didn't have enough strength- or concentration- to do anything right now. I leaned myself against the wall, closed my eyes, and sighed. Not sure how long I would be in here, I let my mind run free. And then I thought of something; one of the main reasons I got myself arrested....

~Sorin~

I waatched as the guards walked by again, this time without Star. They went back to their posts, not even noticing me.

"Let's go." I said, motioning for everyone to follow me.

I opened the door as quietly as possible, looking both ways to make sure the coast was clear. Then, we all began to sneak down the hall, in the direction the guards had taken the Star. I looked in every window, hoping to see Star, or.....well, hopefully I would find Star.

"No, no, no, no, n-" I whispered to myself, until finally, I saw Star inside one of the cells.

~Star~

"Hey, look who found me," I said, whispering. I propped myself up against the wall, but I couldn't really stand up. My head was too clouded right now to think straight....

~Sorin~

I unlocked the door and opened it, glad to see there was no one else in there besides Star.

"You okay?" I asked.

~Star~

I somehow managed to get myself standing up, pushing up on the ground with some Airbending from my hands.

"Yeah, I'm fine." I said, grinning a little. "Uh, can some one help me out here?" I asked, a little embarressed by the fact that I couldn't get whatever was keeping my hands behind my back off. I was pretty sure it was just rope....

~Summer~

I walked over to Star, who had her hands tied behind her back. I took out one of my swords, then sliced through the ropes, letting them fall onto the ground.

"There." I said, then I turned back towards Sorin.

"Alright, we should start looking." I said.

~Star~

"Um...thanks...?" I said, not really sure what to say that what Summer had done. If anything, I thought I should be a little grateful....

"Yeah, let's get to looking now," I said, having one thing on my mind.

~Sorin~

Finally. I thought.

I walked out of the cell, looking around.

"I think our best bet would be to.....threaten a guard into telling us if he knows anything." Summer, who was now right next to me, said.

~Star~

"Hmmm....Good idea, Summer." I said, nodding my head in agreement. "But how should we do that?" I inquired, looking at all the empty cells we passed. When would we run into some that weren't empty?

~Summer~

"They probably keep these cells open for the "minor offenders"." I said, noticing that she was looking at the empty cells.

"The cells with more permanent occupants are probably on the upper floors. Anyway, we'll probably find a guard posted at the entrance to the stairway upstairs." I said, as we turned a corner. It seems I was right, because just as we turned the corner, we all saw a guard standing at the staircase that led up.

~Star~

"Yeah-" I said, but stopped mid-sentence. I noticed two guards standing at the staircase that lead upstairs. What are we going to do about them? I thought, a small edge of panic in the back corner of my mind.

~Summer~

"I'll handle it." I whispered, taking out my swords. By now, the guars had noticed us, and were ready to attack. But I noticed something. The way they were standing, where their hands were....

They're not firebenders. I thought, and this made me grin.

I ran towards them, both of them looking almost scared. Before I could even get near them, one of them fainted.() I stopped, staring at him.

Did that guy seriously just faint? I thought, trying not to laugh.

I turned to the other guy, who had looked at the other guard as well. They were obviously new. His knees were trembling, and it looked like he was just about to follow his friend. Before he could, I walked up to him, then pressed my swords up to his neck, hard enough so that he couldn't get away, but not too hard so as to slice through his neck.

"What do you think? Think you're going to help us find someone?" I asked, keeping my voice low. He nodded his head as best he could.

(That was long! ^^')

(Ooh, but it was neat! )

~Star~

I nearly laughed as one of the guards fainted. They must be new here....

As Summer got the other guard- the one who hadn't fainted- with a sword to his neck, I ran up to Summer's side.

~Summer~

"Now tell us," I continued, as I noticed that Star had come over to my side.

"In the past week or so, have you gotten a firebender man and earthbender woman from the Earth Kingdom?" I asked. He spoke, his voice shaky.

"Y-yes, we p-put th-them up o-on the th-third floor, the tenth ce-cell on the r-right." He said. "B-but the earth-" He started, but before he could continue, I threw him into the wall, and started to walk up the staircase.

"You heard him. Let's go, third floor." I said.

~Star~

As everyone else walked up the staircase, following Summer, I stayed behind. Once I was all alone- besides the one guard- I walked up to him (the guard ).

"Please, don't hurt me! I already told your friend where we took the Firebender and Earthbender!" He spoke, but it sounded more like pleading. He was sitting on the floor where Summer had thrown him, and he was visibily trembling. I kneeled down, so we were face to face. I took a...calmer approach than Summer did.

"Look," I said, my voice a mere, soft whisper. "I don't want to hurt you. They were looking for someone else. I need to know about someone else."

"W-who are you l-looking for?" he asked, his voice still shaking.

"I need to know about prisoners that you brought in about a year ago."

~Summer~

I stalked up the stairs, my mind elsehwere. I didn't even notice Sorin walking up next to me.

"Hey," He started, surprising me a little. "...Thanks for that." He said, smiling.

"Y-you're welcome." I said.

~Star~

"A y-year ago?" the guard asked, sounding a little surprised by my question. I nodded my head, but did not give a spoken response. "W-why?"

"Because," I said, getting a little angry. And that little anger was now visible in my voice. "Someone that I NEED to find was taken here a year ago. Does that sound like a good enough reason?" I asked, getting even more angry. He was hesitant with answering, which pretty much set me off. One more thing that went wrong....

"I've been working here for about a year....Maybe I would remember them...." He said, pretty much talking to himself now.

"Good. Their names are Syra and Kurou Mariko. One of them is an Earthbender, and the other isn't a bender at all. They were taken from a small Earth Kingdom village a year ago, in a Fire Nation raid. Now, tell me where they are." I said, trying to keep my voice as steady as I could.

The guard hesitated again, and then a smirk spread across his face. "I don't think so." he said.
I was smart enough to realize that the other guard had waken up. Without turning around, I shot a blast of air at him, and heard him scream, then hit the wall. The smirk on the first guards face quickly disappeared, and his eyes became fearful again.

I was loosing my patiences. I lifted the guard up by the collar of his shirt, and stood up completely, pinning him to the wall.

"Tell me where they are! Now!" I said, yelling the last part.

(Wow, that was long, too! '^^ )

~Summer~

We all stopped dead when we heard Star shouting. I hadn't even ntoiced that she wasn't with us. I looked back down the stairsand was surprised to see her holding the guard from earlier up by his collar. We all stared at her, stunned.

(Hehehe....)

~Star~

"I-I don't know where they are!" the guard said, the terror in his voice now clear. I sighed, tightening my grip on his collar.

"Then tell me where you keep the Earthbenders," I said through my teeth.

"I already told your friend!" he said, trying to get out of my grip.

"Well now, you're telling ME!" I shouted again.

"On th-the th-third f-floor. B-but they might not b-be there...." he said, having trouble getting the words out of his mouth.

"Might. Not. Be. There?!" I asked, now furious. "I am going to find my parents, and YOU are going to help me! Understand?!" I said. If I hadn't been talking through my teeth, that last word would've come out as a shout. The guard nodded his head with what energy he had.

"Now, if they're not on the third floor, where do you keep the non-benders at?" I asked, the anger very clear in my voice. He told me, and I threw him to the ground, not even looking back.
I started up the stairs, and glided right past everyone else. But, out of the corner of my eye, I could see their expresions. Shocked, surprised, semi-angry. Wow, that didn't seem too good. But I didn't care. I kept on walking, ignoring everyone else.

~Sorin~

We stood there as Star walked right past us, and up the stairs. A few moments later, I snapped out of it and ran after her.

"What was that all about?!" I asked, a little angry.

~Star~

"I had my reasons, Sorin." I said, not stopping, or even turning around. "I'm not trying to sound rude or anything, but nothing you do or say now can stop me. I am GOING to find my parents...Even if I have to do it alone...." I stopped in my tracks for a second, squeezing my eyes shut to stop the tears from starting down my face. A few seconds later, I continued to walk forward.
