Chance Meeting-An Avatar Story

(Well, yeah. But, if they didn't know about the eclipse....Eh, never mind. It made sense to ME...and to Toph too, apperantly....'^^ )

~Toph~

"Well, when the comet comes, all of the Firebenders will have more power than any other day of the year. I'm pretty sure what he's going to do is, while all other benders are pretty much powerless, take over the other two Nations: Earth and Water. But, not only does the comet make other benders weaker, it also makes the Firebenders stronger. At least, that's what I've heard," I said, taking the work of explaining that myself.

( Hey, Toph's not perfect. She can't get EVERYTHING perfectly right. '^^)

(Actually, in the first season, during "The Winter Solstice", Avatar Roku told Aang about the comet. ^^')

~Sorin~

"Wow...." I said, surprised. "Then, I guess it'll be good for Aang to learn firbending." I stated.

(Ooh, okay. Maybe I was thinking of something else, then. Or maybe TOPH was thinking of something else. )

~Toph~

"Yeah, that's what we all thought," I said, a hint of sarcasm edging my voice.

*~*Sorin*~* (<----Oooh, pretty! )

I smiled a little, then yawned.

"I'm a little tired. I guess I should get some sleep." I said, crawling backwards towards the earth tent right behind me.

~Toph~

"Yeah, I'm sure a little sleep would do us all some good." I said, also yawning (yawning is contagious, you know. ).

"Well, good night," I said, standing up and walking over to my own little earth tent.

(I know O_o' Every time I see someone yanw, whether it be someone on TV, an animal, anything, I start yawning! O_o)

~*~Sorin~*~

I crawled into my earth tent, lying down and closing my eyes. It took me a while, but I eventually, after much tossing and turning on the hard ground, fell asleep.

(Yeah, same here! O.O

Oh, should we just skip to morning, or what?)

(Yeah, that's what I was thinking. ....I'm almost a little sad that Star's gonna be free(As in able to use)again...I kinda liked how you were writing Toph. ^^' You can go ahead and skip ahead.)

(Skip ahead to what time, though...? '^^)

(Um......morning? I dunno, maybe 7 or 8 in the mroning. ^^')

(Umm....Okay....Here, for your benifit, I'll do a few more posts in Toph's P.O.V., okay? )

~Toph~

When I woke up, I nearly crawled out of my little tent. Once I got out, I stood up and streched out my arms, yawning.

(Wow, that was...bland. )

(heh, that's okay. It sorta....set the tone. ^^')

~Sorin~

I woke up, lfitning my head up first. Some time in the night, I had ended up on my stomach, my head sticking out of the opening of the earth tent. Anyway, I lifted my head up, looking around the small campsite. Summer was still conked out on the log, one arm hanging off of the log. I could see Star still lying on the bison's saddle. The others were asleep in their own earth tents. That is, except one. Toph.

I brought my arms under myself, lifting myself up off the ground. I got out of my tent, standing up and stretching out my arms. I walked over to Toph.

"Good morning." I said, sitting down next to where she had sat down.

(Sorry it's so long. ^^')

(Hehehe...."set the tone", huh? )

~Toph~

I could feel the vibrations in the Earth as Sorin woke up and walked towards me. I sat down in front of the used-to-be-fire, yawning again. Once Sorin sat down next to me, I spoke.

"Good morning..." I said, my voice trailing off a bit. I was thinking over the nicknames I'd made last night for the two new members of our "group". I hadn't thought of any good ones, but I was still thinking of some.

"How was your...uh...sleep last night?" I asked, probably sounding like a total idiot.

(Wow, that was...strange. '^^ )

(O_o I didn't mean "set the tone" in THAT way! )

~Sorin~

I turned my head towards her.

"I slept pretty well, I guess. Had a hard time getting to sleep. I guess I'm not really used to sleeping on the ground yet." I said, chuckling nervously and rubbing the back of my neck.

(Ugh *sighs* I didn't mean THAT way. I just thought it sounded funny...'^^ )

~Toph~

"Yeah, I know how you feel. I had some trouble sleeping on the ground when I first joined this little "group" of sorts. But don't worry; you'll get used to it in a while," I explained, joining in on his nervous laughing. He seemed to be acting a little...strange. ()

(Whatever you say.... heh, this is getting funny.)

~Sorin~

"Soo........how exactly do you........y'know.......earthbend?" I asked, really nervous. I didn't want to offend her or anything. ()

(Yesh, quite funny. )

~Toph~

"Well, let me start off with my "seeing". Since I'm blind, I use the vibrations from the earth to "see" things. So, to make it short and sweet, I use my feet to "see"." I explained.

"I kinda use the same technique to Earthbend. I pretty much Earthbend like the next person, as far as some things go. I use a different style...." My voice trailed off, not sure how to put this in simple terms.

~Sorin~

"Oh," I said, not really sure what to say. "Interesting....." I said, trailing off. For some reason, it was really awkard.

(heh heh)

~Toph~

"Yep..." I agreed. A few minutes of silence went by before I spoke up again. "Alot of people think that, just because I'm blind, I'm totally helpless. Which is kinda why I ran away from home in the first place. They thought I was helpless, just because I couldn't see....."

~Sorin~

"You ran away from home?" I asked, a little surprised.

~Toph~

"Well, sorta. When Aang, Sokka, and Katara showed up in Gaoling, they tried to talk me into teaching Aang Earthbending. Apperantly he had some weird vision-thing in some swamp or something." I said, adding sarcasm to that part.

"After a little persuasion (sp? '^^), I decided to join their group and teach Twinkletoes Earthbending. Of course, I left without telling my parents. So, yeah, I kinda ran away. I mean, I still consider it "running away". I'm much happier here than I was at home...." I said, and I cursed the very tiny sadness that even I could hear in my voice.

~Sorin~

I could tell she was kind of sad, but I didn't say anything.

"So...what's it like traveling with the Avatar?" I asked.

~Toph~

I was glad that Sorin had changed the subject.

"Well, I can't complain," I said, laughing once. "Like I said, it's alot better than back in Goaling. It's like I was trapped there. But, now that I'm traveling with the Avatar, I don't have to hide the real me," I said, a small smile slowly spreading (whoa, complicated to say O_o' ) across my face.

(Why's that?)

~Sorin~

"Yeah..." I said, not really sure what to say. I looked around, a little nervous for some reason.

(Because, when she was in Gaoling, she had to hide the fact that she was a master Earthbender from her parents and teacher....And now she doesn't! )

~Toph~

I could tell that his heart started to speed up, like he was nervous or something. I laughed a little.

"What, a little nervous?" I asked.
