Chance Meeting-An Avatar Story

~Sorin~

"Sounds good." I said, smiling.

~Star~

I didn't speak after that for a few more minutes. Everything was silent, and I could hear crickets farther back in the forest. The sound of them was almost....soothing. I sighed, and stiffled a yawn. Everyone was quiet, and I wasn't really sure what to say next....

~Sorin~

It was starting to get dark, and I figured we would probably be going to sleep soon. I noticed everyone already had sleeping bags and tents and stuff set up. Over to one side, there was this tent made out of earth.

I grabbed my pack, and took the blanket out of it, spreading it on the ground next to the log Summer and I had been sitting on.

~Star~

I noticed Sorin spreading out a blanket on the ground, and I was about to speak up. But Toph beat me to the point.

"Hey, I can make you guys some tents, if you want. I mean, I don't care if you'd rather sleep under the stars. It's just that some people, like myself, like tents better." she offered.

~Sorin~

I looked over a Toph, grateful.

"Yeah, that'd be great." I said. I looked over at Summer, who was now laying down on the log.

"I'm fine." She said dully(sp?).

~Star~

"Suit (sp? '^^) yourself," Toph said, making a single tent out of rock by where Sorin was sitting.

~Sorin~

"My mom's an earthbender." I said, crawling into the earth tent and placing the blanket on the bottom.

~Star~

"Really?" Toph asked, interested.

I quietly stood up and walked over towards Appa, and jumped up on his saddle. That's where I usually slept, if we were ever on the move. So I figured it'd be easier for me to sleep up here than it would on the ground, as odd as that may sound. I slid down to Appa's head, and spoke up.

"I'm getting pretty tired, so I'm gonna try to get some sleep. See you all in the morning," I said, then ironicly yawned. I climbed back up to Appa's saddle, but didn't go to sleep yet. I was listening to everyone's conversation. It was quite interesting....

(Oooh, maybe you and I could do some things from some of the Gaang's points of views. ^^)

~Sorin~

"Yeah. And my dad's a firebender. They met when my dad moved, or as he likes to say, "escaped", from the Fire Nation. My mom's village had been burnt down by the Fire Nation. They eventually got married, then ended up having me." I said, not really sure why I was saying this. ()

(Yeah, that's what I was planning to do! ^^ Hmm....Who should I start with first? '^^ )

~Star~

I listened to Sorin explain something about his parents. But eventually, it all just became a soft murmer to me. Soon after that, I drifted off to sleep....

(Hm.......maybe Toph or Katara or something....? ^^' ....)

~Summer~

I listened to Sorin say something about his parents, but I had already known what he had said. I was really tired, so I closed my eyes, trying to go to sleep.

(Okay! I'll go with....Toph. Hmm, I've never done something in Toph's point of view...wish me luck. )

~Toph~

I listened as Sorin explained the story about his parents.

"Yeah, the Fire Nation can do some pretty bad things...." I said, laughing nervously, rubbing the back of my head sheepishly. I really wasn't sure what to say next. I wasn't sure why, but it was almost...hard to think of something to say. ()

~Sorin~

"Tell me about it." I said, rubbing my arms a little. "It's kinda cold out. You guys mind if I make a fire?"

~Toph~

I could feel everyone nod their head in agreement. So I did the same.
"Sure, go ahead," I said, though I'm sure the decision wasn't really up to me alone.


(Hehe, kinda bland. '^^ Ooh, question! Do you think we should have Sorin and Summer notice Toph's blind right off the bat, or should we have it to like, where one of them says something, THEN realize she's blind...Or something like that. Did that even make any sense? '^^ )

(I kinda figured that they already realized, and they didn't say anything. It's kinda obvious by her eyes. ^^')

~Sorin~

"Alright. I said, then grabbed some sticks that were scattered around the area. I put them in a little formation/pile in the middle of where we were sitting. I took a few steps back, then firbended at the sticks, making them catch on fire. I then sat back down.

(Yeah, I know. But I was just asking, cuz, y'know, not EVERYONE notices. But that's kinda what I was leaning towards (what you said). '^^ )

~Toph~

I could feel the heat mostly on my face when Sorin lit the fire. It felt good, and I was kinda cold.

"Ah, much better!" I said, exsagerating (wow, I think I actually murdered that word...poor word )

(Poor, poor word....Should we perhaps hold a funeral for it? ( ))

~Sorin~

I chuckled a little, putting my hands in front of the fire to warm myself.

"So, can any of you besides Toph bend?" I asked.

(Yes, I think we shall. )

~Toph~

This time, Katara spoke up.

"I can Waterbend, and Aang can bend all of the elements. Well, except for Fire. He hasn't quite learned that yet..." she said, her voice trailing off.

"Yeah, I'm sure that's something you'd want to remind him of daily, Sugarqueen," I said, warming my hands with the fire.

(Remember, this is supposed to be BEFORE they ran into/let Zuko join their group. )

(Yep, yep. ^^)

~Sorin~

"M-maybe I could teach him..." I suggested.

~Toph~

"Really? You would do that?" I heard Katara ask, sounding sorta surprised.

"That'd be great!" Aang exclaimed, happily.

(Hm....poor Zuko! Sorin's beat him to the punch! )

~Sorin~

"I'm not sure how big of a help I'd be. I mean, I haven't completely mastered firebending myself. I know all the basics, though, and a few advanced moves my dad was teaching me before....." I said, not ending my sentence. I didn't really want to talk about my parents being captured anymore.

~Toph~

"Well, I'm sure teaching him the basics would be just as helpful as teaching him advanced Firebending. He's going to have to learn it sometime, before the comet comes." Katara said, that motherly tone in her voice again. I really hated when she did that.

"Oh, and your Earthbending could use a little work, Twinkletoes. We should work on that as much as we could." I said, still warming myself by the fire.

~Sorin~

"The comet?" I asked, not sure what she meant.

(I'm not sure how many people actually know about the comet.....at least, I don't think some kid(Sorin) from some secluded village would know about it. ^^')

~Toph~

"Sozin's Comet. The one that Sozin used to wipe out all of the Air Nomads a hundred years ago," Sokka said, speaking up for once. I guess he was still wallowing in the glory of the fact that he was the one who found out about the comet. I kept silent, not really sure what to say.

(...Wait.....Sokka didn't find out about the comet...did he? I thought he only found out about the eclipse. ^^')

~Sorin~

:Oh....and the Fire Lord's going to use that to...?" I said, not wanting to finish my sentence.
