Chance Meeting-An Avatar Story

~Star~

Everything was silent as we followed Katara through the forest, down this path. I caught up with her, and started some casual chit-chat. Nothing better to do, right?

A few moments later, I could hear two voices a little further ahead. I stopped Katara, and asked in a hushed tone, "Do you think either one of them are still mad at me?"

"I don't think they were ever mad at you in the first place," she said, then nodded towards the rest of the path encouragingly. I nervously took the lead, walking down the rest of the path....

~Sorin~

After about five or ten minutes of walking, we finally got to their campsite. My eyes widened. One one side, was a giant bison with an arrow on it's head. Flying around it was this little flying lemur. Petting the bison was a little kid, about twelve or so, with an arrow on his head and arrows on his hands. An airbender. I blinked, trying to take it in. On the other side of the camp site was a blind girl, probably the same age as the other one. There was something about her that I was kind of...attracted to. ( )

~Star~

Once we got to the so-called campsite, I watched Sorin's and Summer's reaction. I'm not really sure why, I just thought it'd be...interesting. And I was right. ()

I was almost positive that Toph had seen us all coming, but it didn't seem like she cared. And Aang was too preoccupied by Appa and Momo to notice that we had approached the campsite.

"Hey guys, we're back," Katara stated. Before anyone could say anything, Toph spoke up.

"Hey Sugarqueen, who's the guests? Wait a minute....Is that another Airbender with you?" she asked, probably noticing because of my naturally light footsteps. This caught Aang's attention. Immediatly, he turned around, turning his attention to the five of us.

~Sorin~

"Hey." I said, putting my hand up and waving slightly. Summer didn't say anything, just looked around.

~Star~

"Hey, Toph, it's nice to see you again!" I exclaimed, smiling.

"I wish I could say the same thing, but, y'know...blindness," she said teasingly. "Who're your two friends?" she asked, pointing towards Sorin and Summer.

"Sorin and Summer," I said simply, not able to think of anything else to say.

~Sorin~

"Hi." I said again, mostly to Toph, but to the Airbender kid, too. I gave Summer a quick jab in the ribs, temporarily forgetting her injuries.

"Ow," She muttered, glaring at me, but she got the meaning.

"Hey." She said quietly.

~Star~

"Hey, uh...Sorin, right?" Toph asked as she nearly jumped to her feet. "And Summer, of course." she added quickly, and I could barely tell she was slightly embaressed. I ignored them, and turned towards Aang.

"Hey, Aang, it's good to see you again!" I said, a smile creeping across my face.

~Summer~

"Hi.....Toph, was it?" I asked, looking her over.

~Star~

"Yeah, that's me," Toph said, smiling smugly.

"Uh-huh." I said, then continued. "So, Sorin here's a Firebender. But not a "bad" one, like Azula. He's nice," I said, trying to think of better words to use in that sentence. None came to mind.

~Sorin~

"Azula? You mean the princess of the Fire Nation?" I asked.

~Star~

"Yeah, that's the one," I confirmed. "She's kinda like my...."mortal enemy" or something...."I said, rubbing the back of my head sheepishly. "Let's just say she nearly killed me...twice. And she was the one who enforced the raid on my village....." I blurted out the useless information as Sorin listened.

"So, to answer your question, yes. Why?"

~Sorin

"No reason." I lied, thinking that over in my mind.

~Star~

"Oh." I stated simply, nodding my head. Everything was silent, and it was kind of...awkward, if not a little eerie. Then Toph spoke up.

"So, where did you pick these two up?" Toph asked, obviously to me.

"I just ran into them in the forest. Long story...."

~Sorin~

"Reeaally long story." I added. "We were attacked by those Yu-Yan Archer guys." I said.

"That's how Summer got hurt."

~Star~

"Yeah...." I said, my voice trailing off. Again, everything was silent for a few minutes. Then Aang jumped in.

"So, Sorin, you're a Firebender? What about you, Summer?" he asked, delight in his voice, for reason I wasn't sure about.

(Okay, I'm totally out of ideas right now. '^^)

(Me too......maybe we could do some sorta time-skip or something to when they eat dinner.)

~Summer~

"No, I just use my swords." I answered, using my free hand to brush aside my cloak and slightly pull one of my swords out of their sheathes.

~Star~

"Oh, okay. I guess Sokka can stop complaining that he's the only one who can't bend in our group now," Aang said, laughing nervously.

"Hey, cut that out!" Sokka yelled back.

"Nice one, Twinkletoes," Toph said, laughing slightly.

(Okay, a time-skip thingy would work! So....You want to start the time-skip thingy? '^^)

(Sure!)

~Sorin~

I laughed a little, not exactly sure what they were talking about. ()

I sat down with Summer on a log, and let out a small sigh. The others seemed to be talking among themselves, so Summer and I talked a little, mostly just sitting there awkwardly for almost an hour.

It had started to get dark, and there was this beautiful sunset.

(Yay! )

~Star~

We had all been sitting in one place or another for about an hour. Basically, all we were doing was talking amongst ourselves, and occasionaly (sp?) laughing. It kinda reminded me of..."old times", if you could say that. It was like things should've been all along....
I had figured that everyone would be mad at me for what I did. But they weren't, and, obviously, I was pretty happy that they weren't.

I noticed that it had started to get dark, so I turned to Summer and Sorin. They seemed to be talking amongst the two of them. I felt bad for kinda leaving them out of our little converstation-thingy. I spoke up.

"So, Sorin, Summer, do you guys have anywhere to go tomorrow? I mean, we'd be glad to have you stay with us, but I just wanted to make sure you didn't, y'know, have to go somewhere or somehting...." I said, probably making myself sound like an idiot. Toph let out a chuckle from beside me, and I rolled my eyes.

~Sorin~

I had taken our map out of my bag setting it down on the log between us. We had been looking at it, planning on the fastest way to Ba Sing Se. Suddenly, Star spoke. I turned my head in everybody's direction, blinking a little.

"Uh....no, not really." I said, stumbling my words out. Summer poked at my arm, and I turned my head towards her. She had a confused look on her face. She spoke quietly, but I think the other could've probably heard us.

"Uh, Sorin? Your parents? Aren't we supposed to be finding them?" She asked, whispering. I whispered back.

"Maybe they can help. Besides, don't you think it would be safer if we stayed with them?" I said. She let out a small sigh, and mumbled a "Yeah." I turned my head back towards the others and spoke.

"Yeah, it'd be great if we could stay with you guys." I said, smiling.

~Star~

"Great!" I said, also smiling.

"Hoo-rah." Toph stated, sarcastic. "That means more people to lug around and feed all day."

"Toph!" I said, nudging her arm hard with my elbow.

"Gee, I was just kidding. Man, Star, take a joke once in a while, why don't ya?" I sighed, and stiffled a small giggle.

"Wait....What about your parents, Sorin?" Aang asked.

~Sorin~

I was about to say something, but Summer spoke for me.

"His parents were captured by the Fire Nation." She said bitterly, staring at the map.

~Star~

"Oh," Aang replied, sounding like he almost regreted ever asking that question in the first place. Then he continued.
"Well, if you're looking for them, I'm sure we'd all be more than happy to help. And, if you think they're in the Fire Nation, we're headed that way anyway, so...." his voice trailed off. Gosh, what that boy would do to try making up for something.....

"I don't really know where they might be. Summer and I were going to Ba Sing Se, but they could be in the Fire Nation." I said, my voice a little hoarse.

~Star~

"Well, we've got to make stops in Ba Sing Se anyway. Maybe we could help you look for them," I said, butting in. I liked the idea of helping them, and I was sure that we would eventually have to stop in Ba Sing Se.
