Chance Meeting-An Avatar Story

~Sorin~

I had been sitting on the ground, my knees pulled to my chest and my chin resting on my knees. I looked up at Star.

"Uh......hold on." I said, then took the pack I had on my bag off. I rumaged through it, until I found a roll of gauze I had taken with me from home. I handed it up to Star, then resumed my former position.

~Star~

"Thanks," I whispered, then walked back over to Summer. I wrapped most of her arm up in gauze, and the part of her leg that had been peirced. Wrapping her stomach in guaze was the hardest.

"Hey, Sorin...Could you come and help me for a second? I just need you to hold Summer up for me."

~Sorin~

I looked up to see what Star was doing. I stood up, and walked over to them slowly. Then, I bent down and held onto Summer, keeping her from falling back down, so that Star would be able to wrap Summer's stomach up.

"How could I let this happen..." I whispered to myself.

~Star~

"It wasn't your fault, Sorin." I said, trying to be reassuring. I wrapped up Summer's stomach.

"There," I said. "Now the wounds should heal faster....."

~Sorin~

"So, I guess we......wait?" I asked.

~Star~

"Waiting sounds...good," I said, not sure what to say next.....

~Sorin~

I settled down next to Summer, crossing my legs and finding a nice spot on the ground to stare at. The silence was....awkward, to say the least.

~Star~

After I had finished wrapping up Summer, and shut my mouth, everything was quiet. Deffinatly awkward, but almost...eerie. I decided to break the silence....

I took a seat a few yards in front or Sorin. I racked my mind, trying to find something to say. It wasn't really working....

"So....Uhh.....How did you and Summer meet?" I asked, trying to sound casual, yet still sounding pretty stupid.

~Sorin~

I instantly shot my head up to look at Star, surprised by the sudden noise. It took a few moments for my brain to register what she had said, but when it did, I stumbled out my answer.

"Well.....My first night after I left to look for my parents, I found her in a cave. I guess she had been staying there for a while. She was a little wary of me first because of.....well...my firebending." I said, hesitating at the last few words.

~Star~

I listened to Sorin talk, then nodded my head slowly.

"In a cave, huh? Then she was probably hiding from some one...More than likely Firebenders," I said, laughing nervously. I sighed, then looked down at the ground.

~Sorin~

I let a nervous chuckle escape my mouth, smiling a little.

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure she's wanted by the Fire Nation." I stated.

Before Star could respond, a small grunt came from Summer. Her eyes squinted open, and she looked over at me.

~Summer~

I don't know how long I had been out for, but I do know that by the time I awoke, the archers were gone. I was lying on the ground, and I could instantly tell that the arrows were gone. Instead, something was wrapped around the spots where the arrows had been.

I grunted slightly, opening my eyes barely and turning my head towards Sorin.

~Star~

I was about to say something else when I heard a small grunt coming from Summer. I looked over at her, and waited for her to make some sort of movement.

After she moved her head, I could tell her eyes were open. Before she got a chance to say anything, I spoke up from where I was sitting.

"How are you doing?" I asked, akward concern in my voice.

~Summer~

"I'm fine," I answered gruffly, trying to use my arm to sit up, and failing miserably.

"Agh!" I shouted pain shooting up my arm and from my stomach.

~Star~

As soon as I heard her screach in pain, I rushed to her side. Of course, Sorin was already there, a worried look on his face.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

~Summer~

"Well, besides the fact that I had a bunch of arrows shot into me, nothing." I answered sarcastically, gripping my injured arm with my other one.

~Star~

I sighed, but shook it off.

"I meant are you in pain? No, wait....Where does it hurt?" I asked, trying to make sense.

~Summer~

I spoke.

"My arm and my stomach.....And my leg, probably, if I stood up." I stated. I looked at Sorin, who had a really worried look on his face.

"Hey, I'm fine." I said, trying to reassure him.

~Star~

"Right," I said, turning my head. A few moments later, I stood up, and walked off into the forest. I turned my head, then spoke.

"I'll be right back," I said, then disappeared into the forest.

I ran as fast as I could, and finally got tired of running. I got on my glider, then flew over the forest. I eventually found where I had been earlier, and found my bag laying exactly where I had dropped it. It didn't have much, but it had some things I needed. And some things I probably couldn't live without....

After I found the bag, I got back on my glider and randomly flew above the forest. I wasn't really flying anywhere; I just needed to fly, to clear my mind. I didn't want my emotions to bubble over, so I had to do something to calm myself. Finally, after only a few minutes, I flew over the small area where Summer, Sorin and I were at earlier. Obviously, Sorin and Summer were still there. I quickly flew down to the ground, and quickly landed on my feet and closed my glider at the same time. I took a deep breath, then spoke.

"Did I miss anything?"

~Summer~

Sorin and I both watched as Star suddenyl got up and ran off. I turned to look back at Sorin, who still had a sad look on his face.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"It's just.......I'm sorry, Summer. This is my fault."

"What are you talking about?" I asked, now confused.

"If I had just stayed with you instead of worrying about Star, then you never would've gotten hurt!" He said, his voice hoarse.

"Sorin, you didn't do any-" I started, but was cut off by Star suddenly landing next to us. My eyes widened as she asked if she had missed anything.

(heh, that sounded a little weird. Her eyes didn't widen BECAUSE Star said that, her eye widening()just happened to coincide with Star speaking. )

~Star~

I noticed that Summer's eyes had widened when I spoke.

"What's wrong?" I asked, confused.

(Wow, sorry it was short. '^^)

~Summer~

After a few moments, I found my voice and spoke.

"H-how did you do that?" I asked.

~Star~

I was still a little confused.

"Do what?" I asked, looking around.

~Summer~

"Flew! Airbended! Whatever it was you did! How did you do it?" I yelled, a little frustrated now.

~Star~

"Oh, that," I said, a little embarressed. I guess I was just so used to being around people who were used to me Airbending, I forgot that Summer didn't know yet.

"Yeah...." I laughed nervously, rubbing the back of my head. "I'm...an Airbender."

~Summer~

"H-how? I thought that the Avatar was the last Airbender?" I asked, confused.
