Chance Meeting-An Avatar Story

~Sorin~

I had been standing there, watching everything fold out. I was going to just stand back, but the second the warden burned Summer, I ran up to her.

"Summer!" I shouted, but she just turned her head to look at me.

"Stay back!" She barked. But, just as she turned her head, the warden grabbed his sword and swiped at her stomach.

"Agh!" She yelled, dropping her swords and gripping her stomach.

~Star~

"It's okay guys; I'm sane," I said, being sarcastic, and a little stupid. Then I turned to face Katara.

"Now, why did you come rushing here? What's wrong?" I asked her. I hadn't had a chance to ask her while we were running here.

~Sokka~

When Sorin went over to help Summer, she yelled at him, enough to make me jump back a bit. I watched Summer and the warden person fight for a few more moments, and then the warden hit Summer's stomach with his sword. She fell to the floor, dropping her swords. I wasn't really sure what to do....

~Sorin~

Just as the warden was about to shoot more flames at Summer, I shot a large fireball at him. Obviously, I caught him off-guard, and I made him fly back into the wall. Instantly, I ran to Summer's side, and spoke.

"Summer, are you okay?" I asked stupidly.

"What do you think?" She answered, looking at me and laughing a little. But then her epression turned into a frown, and she doubled over, gripping her stomach. I turned to Sokka and spoke.

"Sokka, go get the others." I basically commanded.

~Sokka~

"Right. On it!" I said. I took a glance at the warden; I wasn't sure if I should just leave them here with him. What if he attacked while they both had their backs turned, and I didn't get back with the others in time....? Ah well, better go find them...()

~Star~

Katara paused for a second, but before she got to answer, Sokka came rushing into the room. He muttered something about Summer getting hurt, and Sorin telling him to come get the rest of us. Everyone exchanged glances, and everything was quiet for a second. I sighed, and before anyone else even moved, I was off, down the hallway again, using Airbending to speed up my running. This was not turning out well....

~Sorin~

As I examined Summer's wound, I realized it was worse that I thought. It was really deep, and obviously quite painful. Before I continued, I glanced up at the warden. He was passed up on the ground near the wall.

Good. I thought, and couldn't help but smirk. I turned back to Summer and spoke.

"Okay, how about you lie down. I need to look at this."

She nodded, and I helped her lie down on the ground, grabbing my pack and using it as a pillow. I touched her wound gently, and she yelled.

"Ow!" She said, and slapped my hand. "Th-that hu-hurts.." She said, kind of tired sounding.

~Star~

I had made it to Summer and Sorin before everyone else. They didn't seem in any hurry, but I wanted to make sure nobody was badly hurt. I mean, I knew that Summer was hurt, but I just wanted to make sure she wasn't dead or anything.

When I got to where Sorin and Summer were, I noticed that the warden had passed out, and was just lying there, against the wall. I looked down at Summer, who was lying on the ground, and Sorin, who was apperantly looking at Summer's wound. I walked up to them and asked what had happened.

~Sorin~

"The warden attacked her when sh-....when she wasn't looking." I said, realizing something for a moment.

This is my fault. I thought. It was true. If I hadn't distracted Summer, then she wouldn't of gotten hurt.

~Star~

I noticed that Sorin had stopped in the middle of his sentence, and I knew something was bothering him.

"What's wrong?" I asked, glancing back at the warden, just to make sure he was still unconcious. I never could be too sure, as I had found out many, many times before, in situations just like this. It brought back some pretty painful memories, but I tried pushing them to the back of my mind. I had to focus on now. What was happening now was more important than what happened in the past....

~Sorin~

"N-nothing." I said, and pretended to be looking at Summer's wound. I glanced up at her face out of the corner of my eye. She was watching me carefully, and trying not to yell when I touched her stomach again. I spoke.

"Do we have any gauze or anything?" I asked Star.

What?

"I don't think so. But there might be some back at Appa....." I said, feeling bad that I didn't bring any. I should've known something bad like this was going to happen. Why wasn't I prepared?
