Here's a couple of snippets from my writing about wolves...
Rin lay on the dead, yellowing grass, eyes flicking up at the brilliant, azure sky. She thought about her loving family, and the way that they accepted her. Even though it seemed like an age ago, she could remember so vividly the look in her father’s eyes when she had done something he did not quite approve of – infinite kindness and serenity toward his innocent daughter. He had always been peaceful...
She closed her emerald eyes placidly, wondering what was to come in her ever changing, unsteady life. Rin leaped up from the cracked land with ease, padding along slowly. She had lost hope in ever finding a pack, lost hope in finding one of those rare, sufficient meals, and had lost hope in her own abilities. Things looked bleak; even Rin’s attitude had changed over the time she had been isolated from any friendship. She had gone from a bubbly, happy type, to cold, distant and stoic. Rin breathed deeply, and ran across the barren land, searching for a decent meal.
A time later...
Emerald orbs flicked toward a stray doe lying under the dying, snow covered tree, tenderly licking itself. Rin’s eyes narrowed as she caught sight of the stray animal lying in the snow. She jumped off the rock that she was lying on gracefully, and stalked silently toward its behind, inwardly noting its bleeding leg, giving the pallid snow a red tint. Almost there, it should be an easy kill, she thought, inching toward her unsuspecting, soon-to-be dinner, bit by bit, before grimacing – she had stepped on a twig that had broken under her weight. The doe tried to pull itself up hastily, picking up the noise, but it didn’t have the strength. Rin was quick to make her crucial move. She ran toward the animal and sunk her razor-sharp teeth into the doe’s neck, satisfied that she would finally get one of those rare, sufficient meals.
