Only Time Will Tell

Another piece I did:




She was crying. She tried so hard to hold her tears back, so hard to be strong, but in the end it was futile. Everyone close to her was gone. At that moment, she hated everyone. She hated the war, she hated that she was crying and she hated herself. If she had just thought before she acted, maybe this wouldn’t be happening. Maybe her parents wouldn’t be dead. Maybe her home wouldn’t be burned to the ground. Maybe… But the world is full of ‘ifs’ and ‘maybes’. She wanted to live life so she had no regrets. She tried to convey her message of peace to the world. She remembered vividly trying to get people to listen. What does fighting bring? It brings hatred and fear. Do you really want to live your life like that? But nobody listened. She learned that a person without a purpose in life is like a ship without a rudder. A lost cause. Worthless. She wanted her friends to help her, even though it was against the rules. They abandoned her. One who breaks the rules is scum. But those who abandon their friend are worse than scum. She knew that she would be prosecuted for even trying to stop war, but she did it, knowing fully she would be killed anyway. So now, she sits with her hands cuffed together and tied to a chair. But she was ready to die. She had done her best to fulfill her purpose. Only time will tell…
