As someone who's had their period quite a while, i just thought i'd reassure you all. Despite what you might think, its really not that much of a change at all. More than likely you'll think about your period a lot more before you get it than after you do. As for wearing a bra, your mother will probably notice that you need one at some stage, or you could try saying that you need some new underwear. Older females will be able to tell (by the way you look) that you have your period; though not when you have it. And they certainly won't think much of it, as menstruating isn't a new thing for them and they tend to be more open about it than younger girls.
